Good Time For Beating Down Your Renewal Cost.

Featured Replies

Just got a good deal on the MX5- i had heard that at the moment brokers will do you a good deal to keep your business, and thats exactly what happened to be fair.

Got my renewal from Adrian flux, £506.

Thats actually more than i paid last year, and you would expect it to come down a bit with another years no claims!

So i called them up, explained i would be paying in one installment, and they got it down to £460, which was a bit cheaper than last year.

I had checked tesco online however, and they would do it for £350. So i said that i wouldnt be renewing.

Guy said to give him a minute, came back, and offered £348. Ensign (who Adrian Flux were dealing with) dropped their rate, and Adrian Flux dropped their cut as well.

I took it like!

Tesco were offering £50 in vouchers, and club points, but that was price without declaring my alloys so i would expect it to go up a little for that reason. also the excess on tesco was pretty high.

I got a similar quote from direct line and privelage, but that was cos both of them have special offers on at the moment- 12 months for price of 10 and the like.

Adrian Flux only has £150 excess, and mods declared, so in reality they havnt just matched the price, they have done a much better deal.

Lesson is that it is worth giving your insurance a chance to match the deal cos i think they would like to keep business at the moment. Especially if you are happy with the company you are with at the moment.

Most people might know this but if you say you are part of an owners club then you also get a discount.

One of my polos is with Adrian Flux and the other with Brentacre who were amazing! Hoping to consolidate them both this year as they are both up for renewal in the summer and I turn 25 so FINALLY I can get a policy where I can drive other cars 3rd party.

driving other cars thrid part is cool, maybe the only part of insurance i like!

Until a year ago I didn't even realise that I couldn't!!

I assumed if I had fully comp insurance then I could drive other cars. I tried to get it on my policy this time but it just put it up over 50% more so wasn't worth it until I was 25

You have to be careful with Quinn tho guys.

I'm with them and spoke to an advisor about this and it doesnt cover you on Sports/perfomance cars or 4x4s which is abit of a large area.

Other good thing is you can ring up and claim you cars in for service/repair and switch to another car for up to 2 weeks free of charge
