Not been in one but not all have 6spd box's i think...

Not all of them do. But yeah, even 6n valvers need a 6th gear IMO

I want a loop, just a bit expensive when you consider what else you can get for that kind of dollar

some have 5 speed, they have the same gearbox problems as the polos, some lups have the 6 speed, apparently there much better and dont have the same problems, cost abit more though!!

But the 6 speed box weighs a shed load more than the 5 speed box.

didnt think of that

on the other hand if my gearbox does ever go, can i fit the 6 speed one

dont see why not but will be alot of work.

Six speed was optional, and tbh they're not the lightest cars for their size anyway..

Polo ftw, same engine and spec, half the price..

^

Kinda agree with that, but dont get me wrong the lupo's are a cool little car.

02 plate onwards they did 6 speed me thinks :?

wasn't any faster than a mk5 polo gti thought was it? I thought they had the exact same specs. 0-60 in 8.2 seconds etc?

is a lupo really twice as good for twice the cash as a polo??

probably not and you get to be packed in and have half doorcards for that extra cash, also has anyone tried bolting the six speed to a 6n2 yet?

Lupo GTi is a future classic. The Mk5 Polo GTi is a nothing car. Optional (really need it) 6 speed gear box, small, light (they even made the some of the panels from aluminium), actually made in Germany (unlike all the normal Lupo's that were made in Spain) and an hoot to drive. It's everything the Polo GTi should have been but wasn't.

It's 980kg vs. almost 1100kg with the same power, the Lupo is going to be quicker.

A lupo GTI is an awesome car, loved mine.

as for fitting one, hydro clutch, cable change gears and the pendulum mount is in completely the wrong place for the polo subframe.

would be a lot of work.

That's bollocks Tav, the Polo GTI is VASTLY underrated. The press generally ignored it and few that reviewed it critisised it for poor handling/steering, which is totally untrue. Compared to new Polos there is good feedback and even on standard suspension I was impressed for it being "just a Polo". Lupo GTI is cool but the Polo is in general a much better package
