Hi guys,

i have recently noticed when i lock my 6n (using the key) the door pin goes down then back up and unlocks itself.

Anyone had this problem or know how to fix it.

Usually caused by a Dying Central Locking Pump, mine has just gone and so have a couple of mates...

its get it checked out but also check the fuses make sure none of them are blown :)

WANK! its just one thing after another on this polo. Are the central locking pumps expensive/easy to replace?

lol same ere mate, just had a new clutch and gearbox (lovely and strong now *running a 6n2 box*).. and now CL has gone not impressed.

erm I'm not sure on price have a look around hte scrap yards that what I'm going to do 2moro :)

Hey! olliejones8 your central lock is original or aftermarket thing? If you hear a Brrrrr sound when you lock it is original compressor locking system. And the pins goes down slowly. Or it is fast it is not original set.

They are the original locking system on the 16v. As you said it goes BRRRRRRR then the pin slowly lowers

So i think the problem is the compressor. But not really! To check it remove the trunk right side carpet. Behind you see a polystirene box. This box included the komressor. You have az air wire and the conector soma cable. You must remove it. Sometimes it stay in water. It is damage is. You remove te overlay on the back and you see the electric panel. It is white and korroded it is problem!

Ok, so remove the carpet in the boot ont he drivers side, look for the pump, see if its wet/water damaged and replace. How much will one cost?

No not the driver side! The other!!!

Price? I live in Hungary. Here is 20-30 Euro. Te other type is Golf3 Vento Jetta Passat is not work! It is also air lock system but dont fit.

cheers i will also check this on mine, Olli, its on the right side where you have the 1st AID badge turn the to turny things and you will see the bump sitting in the polystyrene :)

mate I'm in the same predicament i just came back from a mechanic hes trying to tell me £230 for a new central locking pump for my mk 5 polo. Did you manage to get yours fixed and for how much. Because i want to get a new one on ebay but i dont know how to remove the old one and whether the new one needs programming if so then I'm screwed

A new pump is £185 + VAT from VW!

They don't need programming. Just plug and play.
