Hi guys,

Not posted here in a while. About 6 months ago I treated myself to a Mini Cooper S and love it... my only grief is that when I had my Polo's I had no problem in finding a great club and forum with loads of serious petrol heads into their cars with the mini I can't find one decent club or forum. Am I looking in the wrong places? Can someone point me in the right direction?

you tried looking under bmw mini as alot of the just mini sites will be for the original mini`s . how you finding the new car ?

www.mini2.com is supposed to be the number 1 forum for BMW Minis.

We link to it from our site (www.theminiforum.co.uk), because it caters for the BMW whereas we pretty much focus on the classic Mini.

I own a classic mini and the British Mini Club forum is pretty open to classis and new mini's and are a great bunch of people.

A completely different car to the original,the MINI only shared its name for marketing purposes,to financially gain on the old car's popularity.

No surprise then,that it was taken as an utter insult by many enthusiasts of the old car - myself included,as i was an avid Mini nut and have owned a Wood and Pickett example.

But times are changing in the new car's favour,as its not so new anymore,and the hairdressers are selling them onto enthusiasts in exchange for the new Fiat 500 and whatever else is the new must-have accessory of the moment..

So for the owners of what is a fantastic modern Polo alternative,support and community is stronger than ever.

If they weren't nearly as heavy as a Mercedes 190E i might yet have been tempted by one myself.

same name, exact model name/attempt at replicating graphic designs.

Its a clear attempt at a classic car, styling will tell you they tried to replicate it with a modern twist.

Well I've been on Mini2 but don't feel like there is many on there like there are on here. Too many americans maybe....

On the other hand I love the car. Best buy for me, apart from maybe the fuel consumption (24mpg average unless there is a motorway involved and I get about 38mpg)

I personally want a classic to go with this one I have but with the way business is at the minute I don't think that'll be for another couple of months

My mate at work had a Classic Cooper S (one of the last i think) and he got a new shape cos hes 6ft4 and he had back probs drivin the old one lol.

He said his Cooper ain't great on fuel either.

We both work at a BM dealer so we get to see some real nice ones and they are well good to drive, the amount of stuff u can buy for em is pretty good, and the wheels are 4 x 100 which maybe useful.
