Too Good To Be True?

Featured Replies

First car, first polo, just looking for insurance. Was reading about here and people in a similar boat to me seem to be paying around the 2K+ mark for insurance, so I was suprised when a quick search on compare the market showed up a quote of just under a grand with Quinn.

Me as main driver (still on provisional), got my mum as a named, Mk3 1.3 CL.

Anything I'm missing here cause it seems like a really good deal compared to others...

Are Quinn good customer service and when it comes for me to mod it etc etc?

Cheers,

Ben

Quinn are alright, can add simple modifications via their website and in general cosmetic (non performance altering) mods don't add to the premium

havn't really had any contact with the customer service department though, but I'm pretty happy with them in general, been with them for 2 years now, both times cheapest around, although Admiral seem to also be good for young drivers at the moment

I was in your boat, main driver on provisional, parents named, £936 on a 1.6L, though it did go up to £1100 after i passed my test so watch out for that, already dropped to sub £850 now though with 1 years ncb

Nice one, sounds like I'll go with that then :-)

do not go with quinn !!, it looks good beinng under a grand but when you pass your test it goes up approx. £2000, defo not worth it

If you're still on provisional it means you'll have to have your mom in the car with you and L plates.

Expect a big price increase with a full license.

Mine went up £200 when I passed..

Still worked out a good few hundred cheaper than the second cheapest quote i got

As what the others said, definatly check the price on a full license- i've got a 60hp 6N2, provisonal it was £1100, after i my test, it would of gone upto £3200!!!

I'm with churchill- no probs so far.

Let us know how you get on.

I've been with quinn for 3 years, it was the cheapest when i first passed my test and so were the renewals upto now :?

there good because there one of a few insurance companies that cover you third party on other cars, even if you have third party fire and theft. which is rare. keep shopping and dont just stick to the comparison sites, not all insurance companies are on there.

I've just looked at a quote for my 6n 1.4 8v and they quoted me 4,287 when i only pay £700 with churchill at the moment!!!

£2,713.60

They want to insurance my 1.4 at 17 with dad as named driver

£5,611.22

Fully Comp

My mate was paying a grand on his 1.0L corsa with quinn on a provisional, they wanted an extra grand when he passed...

Just go on your mums policy everyone says get your own and pay 2k but i paid about £550 with my dad as a named driver when i was 17 on a mk3 1.4 golf i stayed on his insurance till i was 20 on various cars up to a 2 litre and never paid more than £700 to insure them now my insurance is only £680 on my own policy with no no claims on a 1.4 8v and I'm 21 and I've had a recent crash so all I've paid on insurance since i was 17 is about what most people pay in 2 years on there own policy and you can have no claims bonus protection so your mum/dad don't lose there no claims if you crash.
