Insurance Payment Options

Featured Replies

Right I've got my driving test tomorrow so all being well ill be ringing up places tomorrow trying to get cover. but when you take out a new policy do you have to pay a sizeable lump some there and then or can you spread it evenly over the 12months? i was talking to my sister about it today and she says her last payment before her renewal is bigger than her other 11. I'm confused, because if i have to pay a large 1st payment i wont be able to afford it :(

Any clarification is much appreciated :)

most companies will let you pay in installments, but you will need to pay more if you do it like that, with a pretty high APR.

Its never too much i think i paid £68 and my insurance is a bit under £700

Also i recommend moneysupermarket.com that gives you loads of quotes from 100s of company's and tells you what lump some each want and how much a month you will be paying.

Direct Line let me pay instalments for the same price (i.e. with no apr), just be a bit pushy!! Also, all 12 payments are the same. :D

i pay a fixed amount to begin with (10%) and then the rest is divided by 11 and thats what i pay for the rest of the year.

just pay it all at same time thats what i do so i dont have to be thinking abot paying each month

^^ Not so easy for first time drivers..

With most companies, if you pay in installments you have to pay the first 2 months at once as a deposit, but not all companies charge APR for paying monthly..
