For the saloon I'd wager? :) Isn't it great how you can fit LOADS of wheels in the back of a saloon? You could easily get another couple of sets in there!

Thanks Sean. The machine sander was a 2" air powered orbital sander with 400 grade pads.

Well I was gonna use these on the saloon but I really need the money to get the G40 back on the road so I've decided I'm gonna sell them once they are complete. Yeah bet you'd get a few sets in there-

Great work, I'm inspired to do something like this if I ever eventually get a hold of some alloys.

Interesting how your doing the polishing last, I take it your doing just the facing edge which will polish up quickly by machine process.

I take it for say a set of bbs ra's it would be a case of polishing the rim first to get the shine on the inner/facing edge before painting the centre for that look?

Well I sanded the facing rim first down to the last grade, then paint then I'm gonna use the orbital sander on the last grade again.

This way I don't have do too much work going over the rim and damage the line of the paint but I'll also get a better line than masking tape where the rim curves inwards.

I Learnt this when I did the P slots. I painted them first then did all the sanding work but I had to really work the sander to get the alloy smooth enough to polish which damaged the paint in places so I learned my lesson!

Plus you don't get a 'step' in the paint because the sander profiles in down nicely.

Have you completely sanded the lips off? Looks like it but cant be 100% sure from the pics

I've just started work on refurbishing my RA's. What primer do you use? just normal stuff?
