Yeah the rims are sanded and polished now, pics are shite though. Yep just normal primer, 3 good coats on a hot day should do it. Took ages to sand though the paint on the rim you know.

:shock::shock: SPLURT!! :shock::shock:

they are soo nice!!!! far play

Rims look amazing..

Can you take us through the machine polishing please? Did you use an orbital sander?

Thanks.

They look pimp!! Such a differance!! I was just wondering what technique you use to achieve the polished edges and lip? Do you polish the edges and lip, then paint the wheel black, then use some sort of sander to remove the paint from the edges? I'm really interested to know!!!

Here is the process form start to finish

1. Tyres were removed.

2. Wheels were nitromorsed front, back and inside.

3. Wheels were wire wheeled with a drill attachment to remove any ingrain corrosion.

4. Wheels were cleaned front, back and inside with surface cleaner to remove grease.

5. Wheels were primed front, back and inside with 3 good coats.

6. Wheels were painted front, back and inside with 3 good coats.

7. The inner and outer rims were sanded using 320 grit on a 125mm orbital sander from wickes then wet by hand with 400, 600, 800, 1200, 1500 silicone carbide paper.

8. The inner and outer rims were then machine polished with a hard car polishing head attached to a drill with a 10mm stud and a tube of autosol.

9. The wheels were then cleaned again.

10. The front of the wheels were then laquered with 3 good coats to give a better shine on the paint and also to protect the polished effect on the rims edge.

11. The centre caps were rubbed down primed and painted with gold paint.

Hope this helps.

Nice one mate..

Thanks for that.

thanks dude! When you wet and dry the inner and outer rims by hand, isnt it hard not to accidently sand bits that need to remain painted??
