Cars For Sale & Honesty

Featured Replies

donny i know how you feel. i swapped my golf which i put every penny in to that i had, also my first car so its kinda like a first shag.

but i got a POLO GT ABD CON!! and at the time thought it was good but the wiring was shit, cable ties are holding that car together.

endless amount of shit came from that car.

still is!

but now i kinda love it.

the wiring in that abd was unusual haha, but it had potential i think, the golf was also unsual as the majority of the bolts were hand tight or rounded off including the inner drivers CV were most of them were loose and coming out, the nearside hub was crossthreaded which led to the wheel falling off, and the top mount bolts were also hand tight  ah well was abit of a giggle untill i realised it was dying and got shot of it

You're a Troll then and should be banned.

I just bought the mk2 G40 reshell, we spent about 2 hours looking at it I was fully prepared to say no to my husband who tends to let excitement rule his head. We had it up on a ramp, spent ages looking at the underside (which was good, every inch), in the engine compartment, had a good test drive etc.

Finally I was won over and when the time came for us to take it away this sun i got in and drove it (LHD is weird) and when we got to the services my husband who was leading in his polo asked me why I had been driving so bloody slow, the speedo said I was going at 75mph (though speedo's in kmph I did do the correct conversion) but I was actually going at 56 all the way down the motorway! we had noticed the speedo needle was really wobbly on the test drive but I didn'ty know it was totally fooked! And the clocks don't go round at all!

Then yesterday I looked on the floor and thought 'what's that dangling down?' and it turned out to be the rear windscreen washer pipe which explains why the washer bottle only has a teeny bit in the bottom (also noted on the viewing), so we've decided to follow all pipes and wires in the engine bay to make sure there's nothing else astray!

Which just goes to show no matter how extensive a search you are always taking a risk when you buy a car, but to be fair I don't think the problems found so far are too major, might get it looked over by the garage my mum goes to who are vw specialists just in case!

forgot to mention someone wired the powercable backwards so the fuse was at the sub end :retard:

would that really make any difference tho? surely as long as there is a fuse in wire it would be reet?

i am a total novice when it comes to stereograms so be gentle with me if that was a silly question

yes but if the wire was accidentally be cut say if you were cutting out carpet or if it chaffed on the bulkhead and wore down what would stop the current either causing a fire or electrixuting someone? there is no fuse to stop it....

that makes a lot of sense
