could be wrong, but i think someone i know did this and got £60 and 3 points :(

fight it, fight it to the bitter end! i had a parking fine and i kept on writing to them about why i didn't deserve it, (southwark council are nice people for being nice people about parking fines!) and eventualy it got thrown out cos they didn't provide any evidence!

Ask for photos of your car going through and tell them to prove it was you driving and the light was red!

I went though a red so i got told a while back got the letter and i asked for proof like kwijibo_coupe said and said i had no idea what they where on about and i never got a reply back.. too much hassle i guess.

yup, ask for as much evidence as they have. If they cant give you any, there aint a case to answer to.

dont you get a hench fine if they do have proof, for you trying to get out of it?

I wouldnt pay a fine unless they could 100% prove it was me.

3 points and a £60 fine (unless you already had 9 points on your licence, in which case you'd be looking at a short ban).

Ignore the barrack-room lawyer advice that most people dish out on here, it's well meant but generally useless. Assuming that you're the registered keep of the vehicle (which is why the NIP has been served on you) you need to either pay the fine and following the instructions or inform the court if you want to contest it.

You're entitled to ask for a photo but it isn't necessary that there actually is one for you to be prosecuted i.e. if there was an eyewitness. There are a few websites that will give you free legal tips like pepipoo but take all free internet legal advice with a very large pinch of salt :-)

Yeah been researching and looks like probably 3 points and a fine, will ask for a copy but I'm pretty certain they'll be able to prove it was me as it was well quiet at the time :(

Someone said they got done thru a red light but they got away with £60 and doing a short course? fingers crossed i guess! Not bothered about the £60 too much, puts back plans for the car a bit but its the points i dont want!

Thanks for the responses

IIRC when my girlfriend wen't through a red she got 3 points and a £60 fine but i think it was £90 if it wasn't paid within a certain time. So if you fight it you risk losing and having to pay more which is their full intension obviously.
