I've just fitted a replacement box in my 6N. The car uses the two cable gear selectors and the new box one cable and one rod. I have made up a bracket so that I can bolt on the linkage as there are no boss's on the bell housing.

The selector rod on the new box is two long and the selector hits the subframe. There are two indentaions on the selector shaft so I could cut the end off which should give me the clearance I need. Or should I try to source the gear lever and shift mechanism?

Anyone else had this issue? Any help much appreciated.

i've seen the selector rod cut down before to make it work, but personally i'd get a box with the two correct mechanism mounting brackets then everything should be a bolt on job. The only other option is to get the casing swapped.

The mounting part is sorted with the bracket, I couldnt use the other casing as it was screwed when the bearing collapsed.

So with the linkage bolted on is it just a case of taking of the end of the selector shaft?

I'm in NZ so sourcing parts is hard as most cars over here are auto's, I had to get the box from the UK.
