Quicker By Night

If its not broken don't fix it.....

if that was the case we'd all still be rolling around in horse and carts.

Explain your thinking?

well horse did just about every thing that cars and farm machinery do these days, the only difference is the modern way is much better/efficient, but if every one had just thought, well it ain't broke so we won't fix/improve it every thing would of stagnated.

UH - Fail, I think you missed my point.

no you just got owned

hahahahaha, x2.

thinking of a cool air pipe to pop just outa sight on my 8v bumper , and a water jacket around my induction pipes to chil the air , or my mini fridge may get dismantled , think I'm guna run a override switch on my rad fan aswell

Can you explain a water jacket? And why an over ride switch for the fan, wouldn't that just make engine run cold and if the water is cold it means the thermostat wont open to include the radiator anyway, so pretty pointless.

by water jacket i meen a pipe wraped around the induction pipe goind to a seperate oil cooler style radiator , the override on the fan is to kick it in as i desire

superchargers love cold dense air at night and early morning 8-)

Fit air con and rig it up to your induction.

As for the horse and kart,we wouldn't be in the environmentally damaged situation we're in now if we'd stuck with it.

So your saying that 'global warming' is caused by the internal combustion engine?

Did you know that cars are responsible for just over 11% of the total carbon emissions we produce as a country?

The media/government makes out that its the cars fault, when really this is just to disguise the fact that the horrific plastic energy consuming culture we live in is the culprit.

why thefuck would you want the fan to kick in early? you just dont get it do you, step away from the car....

Fookin hell, you don't have to add 'X2' every time you agree with something! Just about every post I read by you is 'X2'

global temp changes are a natural occurrence, its been happening for millions of years, if we had stuck with them the ice caps would still be melting, polar ears would still be dying and scientists would still be coming up with bullshit excuses to why its all happening...

remember how we were told in the late 80's -early 90's that useless we helped the environment and turned green the world was going to end due to this massive disaster global cooling ? scientists have no idea what is happening, they have no way of telling the future, they can only guess by looking at the past. after all there scientists not fortune tellers, they will say what ever and back what ever findings they have to to continue getting funding from the government.

Because you see,i dont disagree with those who've answered my quotes - but think again about it.

Simply put,we know we're doing damage - you dont need to see holes in ozone, smog in Beijing and penguins suddenly falling through holes in the ice to know that. We know by simple science what burning billions of barrels of oil is doing to the chemical structure of our earth. Its such epic alteration, its impressive.

And whilst cars alone only do a minority of damage, the internal combustion engine has enabled us to do damage subjectively elsewhere on a far far larger scale than we'd have managed if we had stuck with the horse and kart.

You aint gonna chop out half the Brazillian rainforest and build half our nuclear power stations in a few decades with a bunch of 4ft donkeys and some oak. And the lazy attitude we're used to now is precisely why we're so careless with our resources.

Anyway, how much of our pollution occurs due to traffic?

This is where i get on topic - if you split the rush hour up,there'd be no rush hour. If more people drove to/from work/school etc in the night as well as day, there'd be less traffic on the road at any one time. So less congestion. Which means more efficient journeys, and hence less pollution.

So what you saying is word people should do night shifts, and half of the schools should start and 9pm

Yes but that oil cooler styled radiator is cooled by the same air that is going into to your intake so the water that is supposed to be doing the cooling is going to be at best the same temp as the air going into to the intake. so it will have no effect in cooling the air.

As said cars have an opium running temp, the fact that your engine was cold and it seemed quicker is just a coincidence. It seemed quicker because the cooler denser air was getting drawn into the intake and that same cool air meant your engine wasn't getting up to running temp. But if your engine was getting cold when driving it probably means that your thermostat was stuck open and the water was flowing round your radiator when it shouldn't of been and the fan wouldn't have been on at all. Cold engine means cooler oil which unless its really thin oil means less protection on for your engine as it will be all thick and gloopy.

As said before the only thing that your need is a duct coming from the front of the car feeding cool air to your intake.

finally back on topic.... this guys exactly right! If you want your fan on earlier, just buy an adjustable thermostat so before track days you can set it to start at a lower temp and back to normal for day to day driving!

To put it simply, a voted board of club polo members should run the world. :) makin some sense here

and on topic i have noticed that my car runs alot quicker when the engines cold, but more efficient when warm, for the reasons already discussed.

a car with a turbo will run slow as shit until the turbos warmed up, so I'm told.

and finally, you should strive to get your temperature running at the correct 90' temperature for as cheap as possible,

car manufacturers make it so it does, and they are cleverer than you and i 8-)

its run at 90 for a more complete burn and lower emitions , they might be more clever but they designd it for a different purpase to what i use it for

very true. similar idea to the fact that a catalytic converter has to heat up temperature before it starts working efficiently i guess? so is a colder engine more capable performance-wise? i know alot of supercars have mega focus on the cooling, to stop it exploding, but to keep it at a colder than usual temperature for performance reasons?

ill strap 7 radiators and a fan on my 1.0 lmao :p

its simple science cooler air is more compact then warm so u will get more into the cylinders , as for the cat any decent engine doesent use one

So what you saying is word people should do night shifts, and half of the schools should start and 9pm

I work both nights and days..

But more practical is the thinking in a narrower form. Take the school run. Away. Please. Well,we could split it into three - some start at 8am,some at 9am,some at 10am. And finish accordingly. I used to finish school at 1.30pm so its doable.

Result? Only a third the amount of parents and pupils outside any school at any time - free traffic,so less pollution.

Office hours could be the same within companies that usually run near blanket hours, chopping up the rush hour and freeing it up as a result.

That way,it doesn't matter if your engine is running on hot air from global warming, you'll still get there faster - but these actions would reduce oil sales. Better to just throw traffic lights up everywhere and jam everyone up all morning.

Yeah,i feel better for that..

go to ebay, get a resistor 'chip' then get an inercooler hook it up in you front bumper with the filter on the end of it!

:lol::lol::lol:

I understand your point, some flexi-time would be good, In Aberdeen I'm convinced some planner had a traffic light fetish. The other thing is why majority of shops during the week are closed at 5.30, if some were open later, there would not be a rush to get into town after 4.30!

think it was last month a massive junction - traffic blackspot - in london littered with traffic lights reported the lights had all failed and on a usually nose to tail jam period it was free flowing and clear without the 'aid' of the lights........

Wow, flowing traffic, now there's something you don't see happening...

thanks for that input suppose you can add it to the pile of poinless posts you have!

well done, a pat on the back for that 'man'
