Quick question, Cars gone to bodyshop and to cut a long story short i took my interior out and only put the drivers seat back in to drive it to garage. The car needs an mot but i got told it will fail an mot as not all the seats were fitted. I was under the impression that you only had to have the drivers seat in as a minimum requirement. Whos wrong me or the garage?

But if the garage have told it's not going to pass because of that then they aren't going to pass it no matter how much you try and convince them they are wrong. Just put some seats into it. Although you certainly shouldn't need any rear seats.

Now I believe if there is a seat belt there then it needs a seat. That's the principle for rear seats (after a certain year) so I don't see why its not the same for the passengers.

So as long as you take the passenger seat belt out as well then it might pass ....

Therefore its invalid as a seatbelt and doesnt matter if there isnt a seat to go with it as far as i can tell
