k well i want to get a full respray on my vw polo 6n it is all striped out engine will be out i have had some quotes on it and they have been quoteing me from 3 to 3.6k for it.

the colour is mystic blue.

how much would it be if i dident get them 2 do the engine bay?

you want a good job done then getting quotes like that . the engine bay wont make much difference unless your smoothing it all , are you having modds done on the outside as well ?

i know when i get my 40 done i want to pay 4-5k as i want a really good job done thats going to last, and 2 or 3 modds and every patch of the car painted so that you could never tell it was a different colour

ye this was for full car with 2 bumpers being smothed and boot handle smothed

Jesus Christ, £2k for a respray?? I want to get my red Polo resprayed in its current colour, as it's starting to fade and I want to get some small rust patches sorted. How much would that be do you reckon?

Some high prices there. If you want to save some cash, you could carry out the prep yourself (some bodyshops might not offer a warranty if you prime the car yourself). I paid £750 to have the MK1 resprayed, although I supplied the car ready to be painted and supplied all the paints too. Came back looking like a million dollars though - not a rough, cheap respray.

I don't think the quality of the paintwork is quite as important as the quality of the steel underneath and the prep work gone in to the body. A friend of mine has 5k paintwork, but the underlying body is corroding due to bad prep. It's all gotta come off and be done again at some stage.

Mine is going in on wed and its going to cost me £1200 with a couple of bits of rust removed and a couple of little bits of smoothing & removing stonechip under the bumpers .

I will be taking windows out and bumpers off lights off and flatting it all back before it goes ..

They are having the car for 2 weeks however as there trying out a new type of laquer which has just been developed only for white paintwork . (This is why the job is costing so little)

the only way u ever gonna find a price is to go get quotes.. anything from 500 to 5k. depends on so many things.

i paid £760 for my last genesis to get painted, every external panel but the roof and front wings, they also rolled the rear arches in that (150 seperate) and they sorted out the sides so they were straight as a roman road.

made a nice job of it and it was oven baked so you no worries about letting it dray and harden for the few days after.

i did the stripping down, lights door handles wipers etc etc, and put it back together with the exception of items which may damage the paint like the side bump strips and the glass.The garage prefered that to as it saved them alot of time and hastle.

its the prep work the money is in! the paints the easy bit.

pity its a 1/2m3 now. :sad:

so for a total respray to a good standard including engine bay if you do the strippign down i recon 1000-1600 and with out the engine bay 1000 - 1300

hmm i think i will let them do all the preping and stuff i will take the side windows out they can take the others out as the car is striped allready lol.

going to go get a private quote on sat.

should be cheeper as it would be privert and m8ts of mine say hes real good.

As above, prep is key, my Rado's bonnets been sprayed before i bought it and u can see all the prep marks underneath the paint. Its paying dinatek a visit next month.

Tbh, u could get a seriously good job for only 1k if your lucky but u could get a shite job for 3k, go to someone reputable if puting down big moneys or take a risk and hope for the best!! You should be able to smooth the bumpers and paint the car for 2k no probs and I'm sure that'll be a nice job. Its when u want mad metal work like custom arches etc that things get really pricey.

i reccomend gore motors in leicster done mine immaculate, bmw approved and use bmw paint system which is the best paint system u can get top, quality paint quality job with painters over 30 years experience...they also do custom bodywork and paint effects as in fliptone flakes and candy paint....
