Hi everyone i got a waterpump etc from gsf but they only had a cheape one made by "flusser" does anyone know about the quality of this item because i am only replacing it to improve reliability anyway.

I wouldn't give it the time of day. I've had 'qualtiy' replacement ones from GSF start leaking a couple of years down the line. I will only use genuine ones now.

Thanks a lot for the reply! Hmm it was 17 quid i wonder if they will take it back. I'm guessing a vag one is going to be painfully expensive. Also got head gasket set cos its leaking realy badly its was 27 quid seemes really cheap to me. Got a track rod arm and some other things hope they are up to it. What about GSF vs VAG oil filter?

To be honest, just because something isn't a genuine part, doesn't instantly mean it's of worse quality. Take for example the common flaw in VAG water pumps, they have a plastic impeller, prone to breaking. The pedal boxes, prone to breaking. There are flaws in everything.

As for the gasket set, that doesn't sound too bad, the money you pay at a mechanics is for the fitting.

Thank you for your reply i can take it back and get a VAG the one i have is all metal but i want the best quality part! Anymore opinions really appreciated as i am keen to get the head off.

VAG is the best quality part, I was talking from experience in what I said previously. I've had two GSF ones leak and no problems with the Genuine which are cast iron impellors.

not all genuine are cast impellors actually. Samg40 just bought a genuine one and its plastic impellor. Whenever i get anything from gsf and they do different qualities, i always try to buy the best!
