Right the story. My Girlfriend bought an Ex Demo Vauxhall Corsa from our local Vauxhall Garage with 5k already on the clock. It was a top of the range Diesel model costing £13 grand. After about a month of use there was a strange noise from the engine so we took it in to be told that it was 'the style of driving' and 'see if it persists'. After a further month it got worse.

Whilst on holiday Vauxhall had the car in for repair which still wasn't sorted when we got back after a few excuses 'awaiting parts' even though we had given them plenty of notice. A couple of days later and we get the car back - knocking noise gone. One month on and it's returned!

It's back in with the dealership at the minute but we are fed up.

Has anyone been in a similar situation before? We no longer have faith in the car's reliability and basically want to give the dealership the car back and get our finance that we've paid credited back to us. Is this possible? How would you guys go about dealing with it?

I know my dad had similar problems when he got his Zafira. IIRC there was a problem with the ABS, so took it back to the dealers to get it fixed; was fine until about a month later. Took it back to the dealership again a couple of times before the problem was actually fixed. However they did do all the work under warranty, so didn't cost anything and the service was pretty good.

Since then it's gone 50k miles pretty much faultlessly. I reckon you should stick it out a bit longer, but if it happens again then demand your monies back!

in laws had problems with a brand new renault laguna (i think that weas the model) elecs were shot on it. went back to the garage like four times, then they decided they couldnt be bothered. garage and finance company were fine with it and they got a crapasso instead.

you will have to have had it repaired a few more times before you can dump it back on the dealers doorstep
