Evening guys. First off let me say hello, I've just signed up as I have recently become a proud owner of a mk2 golf ryder 1.3. It's not a Polo I know but I'm looking for one for my partner, so hope to be part of the Polo crowd very soon. I have a problem with my golf however. One of the spark plugs snapped off in the head, and I somehow managed to split the head when I was trying to remove what was left of the plug. I have been informed that the 1.4 cylinder head from the Golfs/Polos will fit if it is an ABF unit. I have found this one:

Will this fit do you think? The part numbers are different but they look exactly the same, in every way. The part number on my broken head is 030 103 373 B, and the part for the head above is 030 103 376M. Any help is very much appreciated, and I hope I can help anyone out in the future. Thanks guys

Its no good if its a Polo 1.4. I dont know what an ABF is off the top of my head,but it aint a compatible one.

There are many different 1.4 Golf and Polo engines,and that one wont work.

You need any 1.3, or the 1.4 ABD head from the '90s Golf. A 1.4 Polo head of any year wont work.

Any injection head wont have provision for the mechanical fuel pump,so you'll need either a pre-'90 head or have the casting machined to accept the manual pump.

Course,if you're talking about the actual head in that picture then I'm sure it'll fit - because that's almost certainly an ABD.

That head will fit a 1300 mk2 golf if it is a late '88 onwards (or has three bolts in the rocker cover anyway)

The ABF is a 2.0 16v engine, but i think you probably mean ABD as above.

the head above is fine if yours has the same bolt pattern on the top for the rocker.

you'll find that the abd polo hasn't got a hole for the fuel pump like the carb golf has

You're right, I got a head from a mk3 1400 Golf that has no cut-out for the mechanical pump, electronic fuel pump on it's way.

The casting is there though,it only needs drilling.

But then you'd loose the 1.4 camshaft and its slightly better,so..

Make sure you use an oil pressure switch,or safety cut-out switch,so the electric pump stops in the event of an accident.
