I'm 17 and looking for a first car, but i'm seriously limited on budget and insurance costs (due to paranoid mother who thinks i'll crash and won't let me on her insurance). I wouldn't be able to give you more than £600. With steelies would you take £450?

A coupe s is the best balance between being cheap, cool and not catastrophically slow. But unfortunately they all seem to be Surrey :(
