Featured Replies

Thats ghey...

just called churchill to say about new alloys , and apparently they wont cover ANY mods until I'm 25 even tho i have 4 years NCB and there VW BBS Alloys... :x

So i either cancel policy... or wait until june to renew.

So annoying... as when i took it out.. i made sure that alloys would be covered...Not in writing... worth jack shit..

I'm with Churchill and yes they are wank! They basically don't like modified cars and i'm defo changing company's when my ones up for renewal. Try HIC insurance there really good and are specialists for Vw and modified ones.

Am i gonna get raped, if i end my insurance early? Will they refund excess cost?

Takes the f**king piss I'm 23 now no claims ever on 3 cars and a motorbike, and u mention alloy wheels and they assume your a chav boy racer.. its bullshit

I have the same thing to be honest i would wait until you re-new cos its unlikely they'll give you much back.

Bunch of bastards

Dont tell em, just say they were factory fitted !!

They are VW alloys afterall !! LOL

Tried that.... they werent having any of it.. and it isnt worth lying on insurance

Anyway got a quote from adrian flux for 420 so ill just renew with them in 2 months

Try bell.co.uk, and there is another one my mate is with i cant remember though lol. But the give you a policy where you can nhave any mods on your car as long as the engine stays under 100bhp.

thats what I'm gunna do when i got my first years no claims as i only just strted driving, and my insurance quote with churchill was £1600 for a mk3 polo which was the cheapest i found. :(. Anyways i have started to mod my car now too and i have a stainless steel exhaust on it but i haven't metioned anything, and I'm just gunna hope i dont have a crash, otherwise i guess i will have to change it back to standard. LOL

hope that helps, sorry i waffeled on a bit :D.

Yeah ill give them a try

If i were you, i would stop modding till ure insurance will cover you...

Insurance companies in general are ASSHOLES... if they can dodge liabillity and avoid paying out they will. so it isnt worth the hasstle, seriously

Same position with Direct Line.

And i'm only 17, so i have a good 8 years untill i can mod with them...

Gahhhh!! :(

Nice newish car for a 17yr old!!!

Freebie? or just fuck loads of paper rounds? ;)

haha, paid half, other half present!

and my mum gets to use it (almost never since I passed) ;)

thinking of getting vw upgrade alloys and then getting my mum to ring up direct line and saying she wanted them instead of hubs, hopefully they'll be cool about that (it's on her policy)...

like rs4 style alloys or somethin'

  • Author

Haha.. i like it

Just ditch direct line next year

apparently Bell are good for young drivers with low NCB, but basically Insurance is a fckin joke.. and it dnt get much better till beyond 23 tbh :x

Are they now?

Yeah, planning on ditching them sooner, as pay monthly, but I can't find cheaper :(

Also, I'm driving around with 850 excess fee!

Sheeeiiiiiit

Thats what takes the piss... you pay all this money and you have a £850 excess...

Inittttt!

Oh well, need to slow down a bit then I presume...

Who were you with when you passed?

Did you do any mods?

I didnt bother having a daily driver that was mine when i was younger just too expensive..

I used my folks 1.6 16v clio for first 2 years.

This was my beasty... not much of a daily driver though lol

Then i had a Mk2 breddy at 20 when i graduated.

Now i got this MK4 and got some BBS and coilies line up just gotta wait till june to get em on lol

Errrr, thats not how it works! if thats what your doing, when/if you have a bump you are in for a nasty suprise. You may want to declre them alloys there mate, bit of friendly advice.

Best idea? wait til june and move to a company who are better with mods. It will be june before you know it.

Bit of a bugger that, i cancelled my bike policy and they took 6weeks to refund my costs that they owed me, they'll take your money as fast as they but when it comes to refunding it too you it begins to be a pain in the bum :(

Id wait untill June mate it'll soon fly by I'm sure.... just a bugger looking at the bits in the garage and thinking about how good the cars going to look

Looks clean and tidy may i just add 8-)

  • Author

cheers... yeh I'm gonna wait.

trying to cheat insurance is game for the retarded in my opinion.

Yeah i got some smart BBS ra black with polished lip, and some time to sort the suspension out too, but come june it gonna look sweeet.

I'd recommend Bell too.

I'm currently paying 1200 with flux at 20 years old, no NCB, 1 crash, 3 points....just got a quote from Bell for £508!! And I can drive other cars 3rd party (that's with Flexi Bell though, costs about £35 extra)

More than likely i'll be going with them come renewal time. (No point cancelling with flux as i've only got 2 months left to pay anyway, and can't be bothered to wait until this time next year for 1 years NCB...)

Same position with Direct Line.

Gahhhh!! :(

that because churchill and directline are the same company, all part of the royal bank of scotland

I used to work for churchill and ill tell you now, if your going to modify a vehicle dont bother with them. They were a good company to work for but i wouldnt personally insure with them.

I was with quinn, really like them but adrian flux managed to half my premium to around £500 and that included my 20 year old gf, who has no ncd.

Adrian flux also replace parts like for like in the event of an accident

Offered up the new rimns against the side to see whatb they gonna look like..

I think there gonna look pretty smart, Just got to decide how low to go.

I dont want rock hard coilovers, and i cant relle justify spending 350+ when so much else to pay for, so thinking either 40 / 60mm down on shocks and springs. Just got to decide which, bearing in mind the last thing i want is it scrapping and srubbing everywhere, and i carry 4 people regularly

Same position with Direct Line.

Oh, are they now?!

Don't worry, I wasn't planning on insuring with Churchill.

I'm on my mum's insurance at the moment, and flux said if i want to mod, i have to be the registered keeper of the car and it has to be my own policy... don't think i can afford that at the moment which is ruddy annoying :(

Insurance is a nightmare at below 19, and wanting to mod makes it worse!

Oh, and I love those Ra's mate.

Will look really nice when you've lowered say, 40mm :D
