Hey, had the gay event of having my sump crack today, now I know usually it would be my own fault due to the fact that the car is lowered alot, however, just hear me out and also help if you can..

I was going along a road in Manchester doing the speed limit, slowing down less for any bumps I noticed as I usually do, however, the road suddenly dips...ALOT...it isn't noticeable and then the front end of my car slams into the road causing me to jump off the seat due to the impact, my rear view mirror to face downward and of course, my sump to crack.

Luckily, I was near college and thought it may just be a good idea to check that my sump was ok and I wasn't leaking any oil, so I went to college and put my car up on a slight incline of a curb so I could check a little easier and the oil is pouring out...I wasn't pleased.

Due to being at college have managed to get my mate to give me a lift to halfords to get a tow rope, VW to order a new sump and he's towing my car home. Now, this has cost me quite a bit for one day and I'd like to know if there are any guidelines as to the conditions of the roads to the extent that my claim may be rejected.

I'm aware that the councils have their own plans/rules on checking roads and repairing them, however, I know that this huge dip hasn't been checked for over a year and a half, seeing as I have been attending the college for this amount of time.

doubt it for humps or dips or even where the grooves from trucks and leave a high part in the middle.

i smashed 4 sumps on my ibiza cupra 1.8t in 4 months, worst thing was i never once noticed or felt a bump until it was leaking oil. £99 per sump + plus £50 for oil, filter and sealant everytime. to top it all off after the first one seat advised me they're on an 8 month back order.
