Basically, after sanding down my wheels, i found that the finish was no where near where i wanted it to be, i wanted it proper polished, but it doesnt even shine tbh :(

So instead, i shall be spraying them black with red tears :].

a while back i bought some frosted side repeaters, however, trying to fit them, the fittings just snapped, so i went to the scrappy, found a mk2 golf, got the side repeaters off, and basically just change the lenses (i didnt do it to my original ones incase i broke them :p)

and also fitted my new haxard switch :), mine was all broken before :]

and yes, ofcourse the bumpers are back on :), my car looks more..clothed? now :).

my dad helped grind the numberplate screws off as they were properly rusted ><.

this is the proper colour of my car

the pressed plates are now on, along with the 'Dubway' sticker .

have u tryd hactualy polishing them ??

get some autosol

thell be like mirrors with a bit of elbo greas and some time :)

what grade wet n dry did you go up to?

i worked on 1, proper loads. wet n dry from 200-320-400-600-800-1200 and it was still pitted, and just washing shining, used some duroglit? or something. it wasn't even getting better

if you still had pitting, you didn't use the course grades enough!

I have the same car in red for my 1st car

the wheels should look good black or if you get a good shine to them

Just imagine its your hair. You seem to put alot of time / effort into that just do that on the wheels :)

Needs more elbow grease for the wheels to shine take hours of each grade.

Yeah I agree with the above. Don't spray them that's just taking the easy way out! Put some elbow grease in and start over, really take your time to work out the pits with lower grades. Or, if you still wanna take the easy way out, you can get them chrome powder coated.

i polished up a set of p slots a while back, started of by stripping paint, then sanding with some wet n dry then used a coarse rubbing compound and a thick bristle attachment on a drill, did make quite a mess granted but the results were good, and working through different rubbing compounds till i got down to some autosol, and gave a great shine.

^^ what polomon said.....sanding out the pitted metal at the beginning is the most important bit, as if you dont flat it back it will be really obvious the finer you go....if you want them to be seriously polished grab some 2000 and 2500 grit of ebay....works a treat with some autosol!

Ide say start with 120....give the whole face a really decent rub down (be quite rough :biggrin: )! Make sure all parts are evenly and properly sanded intill all you can see is the scratch marks left from the 120 grit. Then move onto 240....your aim is to get rid of the 120 scratch marks intill you only have 240 scratch marks...then move up to 300/400....carry on like this intill you get to 800 when you should get some warm water with plenty of soapyness in it....lube up the wheel and carry on sanding as usual, remembering to rinse the sandpaper every now and again so it dosnt get clogged up....continue like this up intill 1500, give it a once over with 1500 (with soapy water like before), then dry it and apply some autosol....rub it in with the 1500 sandpaper and then leave it for a few minutes.....then buff all the autosol of with kitchen role.....it should be reeet shiney, the wheels that I have polished in the past have always turned out properly shiney when I've done this.....

Hope this works....if you fancy it being really shiney as fook then get hold of some 2000 and 2500 grit of ebay....

I've been doing it a bit today

and got totally fed up, the pits weren't shifting

popped down to leeks to pick up some new electric sanding circles, and they worked a treat, got 80 for the roughest, then 120 and 240

done thta in one patch and already started looking good.

however, around the rim, and like, around the tears themselves, on the rim side, its really hard to get in there with sandpaper let alone the electric sander, but other than that I'm liking it .

yeaaah man, will do, going to get some 2k + 2.5k :]

Unfortunately, when doing the duroglit, somehow some water mixed with it, and therefor FAIL :(.
