hi I'm just after a bit of advise

i have a mk 3 polo 1 litre with single point injection and am in the process of collecting bits to swap to bike carbs but am unsure what i will need.

i already have mikuni flat slide carbs with 31mm diameter with 135 jets in and I'm gonna get a gasket set to use as a template to make the manifold but am unsure what other parts i would need, ignition wise mainly.

ow and can i use a solid state fuel pump and get rid of the rest. my fuel tank is also rusty so is it worth getting a carbed tank at the same time if it fits?

Full electronic ignition from carb model. New tank would be good,only about 70 quid new. The pump is fine but make sure you use a knock switch or oil pressure switch with it,so it cuts out if you stack the car.

Hi, dont know if you'r ignition will work as mine is mk2. but you will need to regulate you'r fuel preassure down to what it would be on bike, Now it may have a pump on the model of bike then this would give you a good idea of p.s.i. req. even use a bike pump as most have a cut off and return in them.Some bike carbs now have a throttle posisioner on them for ecu to work..

the carbs are fairly old so dont use any electrics.

could you expand on the term electronic ignition as I'm a abit novice, ie coil distribuor or what.

do i still need my ecu?

No ECU - but the ignition loom, coil, distributer and ignition amplifier from a late mk2 polo/golf 1300.

right so ignition out of the way then

will a facet solid state fuel pump on its own be enough to pump the fuel, i would just require a cut out mechanism.

and i take it the mk2 carb tank will go in the mk3.
