My Sub works one minute then stops working the next minute, i've checked all wiring but everything seems to be fine.

Any help much appreciated.

Sounds like you amp is on its way out! Or its peaking and cutting out.

When it cuts out, is there a "protect" led on?

If so, you'll need a bigger amp, if not, its fooked

It's just the sub that cuts out, the highs and mids stay running.

Yes, have been for the past 3 month.. but this as only started happening for the past 3 days. I think the level on the sub channel is to high.

Yes you are overloading the amp. Subs take alot of power to run. Personally, i'd sub on its own amp.

for the time being, yeah turn it down!

i don't think a capactior will solve the problem, just delay it!

if your constantly overloading the amp, your going to damage it

yer definitely get a dedicated sub amp as you'll be doing yourself no favors in the long run when you have to buy yourself 2 amps :p but make sure that your power lead and such is think enough to cope with the combined power of both amps..along with the fuse by the battery!!

get a mono block amp for your sub dude!!!

subs draw a hell of wack, and if you like your beats low and powerfull your gonna need a decent amp too!

Yes, i checked them wires too. I think the sub has blown because this has never happend before. Also, the sub just stops working after about 3 mins but the mids and highs still work.

did your sub smoke, and i thought that even if the subs blown it will just fart at you rather than make no noise at all... it takes alot to blow a sub

I've just bought a new sub, and this one just bumps when i turn the headunit on... and doesn't play bass at all. The amp can't have blown as the highs and mids still play fine.

are you sure that its got a proper ground ?

have you wired your sub up properly, i take it you are using a sub output from your radio?? or are you just plugging your sub into the speaker outlet as your sub is playing vocals and bass << which fooks your sub up btw so i hope your not doing this.

I'll check the ground tomorrow, also i'm using the output from the amp for the sub.. bridging the sub. The mids and highs are getting played through comps and 6x9s.

Hi + Mid (dash/doors) have them from the back of the head unit (iso connector) Then, Just run the "Remote / Aux" wires from the back off the Headunit, then its simple Wires from Amp to the Sub. as for the 6x9's there no point in having them as the pressure from the Sub will disort them and there crap anyway :) but id if i was you i'd run the 6x9s from the head unit to in order not to blow them being connected to the amp.

Ok thank you, ill disconnect the 6x9s.. just want to know why the sub isn't working.

You dont have to disconect them totally up to you, take some photos so we can see how they are all connected

On a bolt behind the left brake light, the wire that connects to the amp isn't revealing too much wire.. so i think that's the problem. I need to strip the wire.
