i passed the power wire through an existing gromet in the firewall that was left of a below the coolant tank. had to take my glovebox out and fiddle around abit to get the wire through. found passing it from outside in was by far the easiest and it meant the fuse was left in the engine bay for easy access:)

than just passed it under trim and carpet to the boot...

whats the grommet look like is it the one that the wires go up to it then turn 90 degrees into it?

i ran mine down the opposite side of the car and heres how i did it ( i did it a while back so i may have forgoten a few steps!)

1)... if you remove the scuttle panel and look behind the wiper blade around where the drivers side speaker is mounted in the dash, there is a rubber grommet, remove this with a screwdriver and pierce a hole in it for the cable.

2) lower the fuse box cover so that you can see up to the top of the dash if you crane your neck.

3) wobble the sh!t out of the cable until it eventually drops down (this annoyed the hell out of me) (and if i where you i would run the amplifier remote lead down this side of the car at the same time as you dont want the phono cables on the same side as the power leads!) remove the door sil plastic cover that goes over the carpet.

4) clip the power wire into the handy cable runner that is located below the carpet on the door sil.

5) when you get to the back of the car, slide the drivers seat right forward and remove the lower bench of the rear seat, now lift the carpet diagonally (and CAREFULLY) so that you can get your hand under the carpet and grab the cables, pull them under the carpet and bring them out under the rear bench. this will feed the cables around the edge of the rear foot-well and shouldn't protrude, also saving the annoyance of removing the rear door card.

6) repeat the steps on the opposite side of the car for the phono cables :)

and there you have it, an amp wiring kit installed without having all of the wires on show.

right I've got all the wire through the grommet bit, but i cnnot find it anywhere in the glove box bit, I've got a/c so thats there.

where am i supposed to be looking for the wire?

look in the engine bay mate, if i remember correctly from when i did it there are like 4 grommits in places on the passenger side. mine was easy and i just had to move the carpet in the passengers foot well. you shouldn't have this much trouble! just persivere!

cant see any gromets in the engine bay mate,

and the one I'm trying to go through is a gromet thats like a bunch of wires then they go 90 degrees into the hole/gromet, but thts real stiff.

anyone got pics?

i guess it may be a different for you as i have a third world spec model with nothing going through the holes. just drill a new hole if your really struggling that much!

I drilled a new hole as getting thicker wires through that hole with the grommet along with the other wires is a pain in the arse.

I run my live cable down the left hand side of the car and put it through the hole right in at the top of the passenger footwell and run the speaker wire and the remote cable down the right of the car and run the speaker wire up through the glove box behind the fuse box and under the centre console at the back then through the hole.

Fuse left in engine bay for easy access also.

just remove the plastic cover that covers the wiper blades at the top of the engine, and look about where the drivers side speaker is in th dash.... there is a 2 inch grommet

i can't seem to lift it high enough cause of the wipers.

tbh if you went to s decent audio shop to have them install the system for you, all they'd do is drill a new hole anyway as its much easier, and actually safer than using an existing grommet as by doing that your cramming wires into something thats already pretty tight and you risk water ingress.

take your glove box out and drill as high as you can, but use a tiny drill bit first, then check in the engine bay that youve actually drilled in the right place(if you haven't just silicone the 1mm hole and re-drill), then if you have just up the sizes by a mm a time and use a brand new grommet
