Advice On Coilovers

Featured Replies

Hi all just joined 2day I'm after some advice just got myself a mk5 gti :-D and i'm itching to start moding it.

It's still standard at the mo, so first job is to get some coilovers but unfortunatly i haven't got a bottomless pit of money to pay for them. So was wonderin if anyone could recomend any mid range priced ones which they think are good.

Claire

go to www.venommotorsport.com and have a look there, they have a few and decent too. Normally the cheep ones off ebay - get what you pay.

Join the club had my mk5 for 2 months and only mod I've done is put a GTi honey comb grille on. coillies are next tho, and as I'm soo tight I'm referring some BBS Ls my self with some tools i bought from BandQ, its the time really i need.

no rush to get stuff done, as when you've got it all done you wont have much to do with it then, its good to take your time with your mod's as you'll appreciate it a lot more.

I'm planning to do every corner of it, e.g. sound system in the boot (custom) interior re-vamp, bumper smoothing, and so on......E.T.A. of finish.....2+ years as funds are shite ha ha ha.

keep us posted on here too with your mods :D

oh and welcome claire to CP x

Yea like everyone cash is a bit of a problem, take it easy slowly mod, and welcome to CP!

might be worth spending the money... it'll handle better, last longer, and you'll be able to say... "I've got a set of..." and be proud them!!!

...got FKs through out on mine ...don't know if they're "cool" or not, but they do the job for me :-)

AP coilovers! 325quid and are spot on! been running them for a while now and they havnt missed a beat :)

FK's are good.

I was in the same position as you, I had about 100 quid and I was looking at some shocks and springs, but I knew I would only regret it as deep down I wanted coilies.

So saved up, sold a few things I didn't need and then saved up and bought some FK Highsport Coilovers.

I can never say if the ride is good, because I've never been in any other car with a different brand of coilovers, so can't compare.

The ride compared to standard shocks and springs is horrid though, feel every little bump.
