D.I.Y BBS RS Re-furb

Featured Replies

Right my BBS RS were in shockingly bad condition when i got them and i ran them for over a year. finally i thought enough is enough and decided to do something about it, only done two at the moment but I'm pleased with the way its turning out, i will update this thread as i go along.

Decided that i didnt want to polish the dishes as these wheels are common enough as it is and polishing the dishes would only make them look even more common. i decided on an original silver finish with colour coded bolts....heres how its comming along

I'm attempting this for the first time and have never dont anything like this before so I'm pretty pleased with the way its turning out, its by no means a professional 100% looking job but they look miles better than they did

looking good so far

Surely the paint will just flake from the bolts when tightening them up

those should look nice mate..

good choice on colour coded rather than silver

looking good although if it had been me i would of been polishing the lips of the wheels, nice touch with the CC'd bolts though, you will have to be unber careful when tightening them up!

i reckon they will look smart when they built up aslong as you dont knacker the paint on the bolts. mayb some different coloured spokes would make it look more pimp

I thought the same about the bolts but we'll see what happens gonna have to take my time tightening up all 120 of them! i was thinking of colouring the centers but i think in 15's it makes them look too small

cheers for the comments

green centre caps to match the bolts?

You can cover the bolts in tape, thin stuff it is, can't remember the name of it though, but you put it on the thread on screws to make the thread thicker. then you can just peel it off after tightening, just a suggestion don't know if it'll work :?

Always impressed with this sort of refurb, looks great.

Why not try a clean cotton rag over the bolt head for tightening. I'm sure thats what the show car people do.

looks like a smart job, those dishes were defiantly in a bad way!

great effort mate....hope it all goes well!!!

make sure you do them bolts up to the correct torque setting... wouldn't want a rim comming off a wheel at speed... or just slow airleks all the time!

looks a good un though, really need to do my wheels, always inspiring to see that sorta a job!

I´m curios if the paint still keeps on the bolts when you screw them in..

Good luck, would look dope.

looks good mate, I'm currently refurbing mine but I'm not sure if I should spray the bolts

tighten them from the back and you wont have to touch the bolt heads.

good shout haris, those centre caps would look phat.

as for the bolts as s-line said I'm just gonna tighten them up from the back and hold them from the front with the thin protective tape around them fingers crossed it'll be okay
