i read somewhere that you can use a scissor jack, pretty sure that worked for them but not sure on the details, have a search. James

just use a mallet, wont damage the lips but it will need a coule of strong hits before it starts to come off

excellent!! :)

specific size? or will i generally have to buy a set?

you can buy them single in decent tool shops.

as far as size i do not know, they are sized in millimetres - so i guess you best bet is to measure the point to point in your screw head then measure the OD of the socket or bit you intend to buy.

halfords do a rail of these.

also called XZN bits and "triple square"

Thank you very much for your help! :)

i can vouch that the halfords ones are up to the job! from memory i think its the m8 spline you need. dont bother with the cheapo splines you can get, they will just snap and knacker up the bolt heads, plus you will need a torque wrench when putting them back together, and they are commonly 1/2" drive.

It is indeed an M8 and you can get sets chep on eBay from Laser that will do it just fine.

isn`t the 8mm is the one for driveshaft bolts. i am 98 % sure

edit - dunno either they could be the same size - but I'm sure they are around 12mm

I think it is a 12mm aswell, halfrauds sell individual bits aswell, I bought just the one for about £2

Is that tool the same as the driveshaft one i use on my mk2?

8mm spline is common on Vag cars, unless someone has changed the screws for a 6mm allen hex cap screws - like i have the habit of doing when they round off slightly as i have an endless supply of these from work.

any pic of the wheels??

what should they be torque'd up to?
