Ok I've searched on here and either I'm just being special or no one else has had hassle with this.

I need to replace the rear valance on my P reg, the previous owner used expanding foam and duct tape to get it to pass an MOT!! So if I want to sell it on(which is why I bought it) I'll need to replace the massacred valance.

I had a look at it today and for what I can see the bumper needs to come off first, trouble is I can't get it to budge.

I removed the four retaining screws at the top of the bumper and the two that are in each of the wheel arches but after peeling the bumper round the side of the wheel arch but I can't get it any further.

I wasn't sure if there was any plastic clips I didn't know about so I didn't want to force the issue.

Am I going about removing the valance right? If not how do I do it.

isnt the rear valance part of the bodywork....it was on my ibiza, think u would need to cut it out and weld a new one in. as for the bumper i think its just the screws. check all the bolts, there are 2 on the inside of the boot take them out and it should come off.

its got two rivets in each wheel arch which i'll just drill out but it doesnt appear to be welded at all, if it is i'll need to sweet talk someone and i really dont want to

hi mate to get the rear bumper of u done eveyr thing ok so far just 2 more screws are left

i assume its a mk4 8v type?

if so were the bumper splits in to look n the gap and you will see 2 retaining screws mate.. unto them and off it comes

ok I think I'm just being special. I tried again and looked where you said and still couldn't see them. I had a look under the boot liner and I didn't see anything so I can only assume I'm being blind while looking.

Anyone know of somewhere I can get pics? I wish I had a haynes manual for it but I can't afford one at the moment.

its not in the boot mate lol,

stand at the rear off you car and look at the bumper, were you see the little split in the bumpers its actually in the line, u gtta lift the top 1 up slightly and you will see either 2 allen key bolts or 2 hex key bolts, they are there lol

hmm I seen two nuts under there which are rusted to hell and I can't work out how to remove them without taking the bumper off first lol

I'll get a deep set ring spanner and try that. It's gonna be the death of me I'm sure of it

should be a hex key mate or a allen key, but u never knw it may have been removed in the past,
