right need to change the golf in august as it will fail its mot and i fancy a change

the VAG blinkers have pretty much worn off and il have around 1500-2000k to spend i hope

insurance is a factor as I'm 19 1yncb but i want something around my current insurance cost for the golf (insurance group 14) but i dont mind shelling out abit if needed

i was thinking Punto GT? or saxo VTS? 106 GTi?

i dont care about the image it gives aslong as its a good handling and is quicker then my golf G40 is out of the question as youl probly get a dog for under 2k and servising will be alot

any thoughts?

I wouldn't go for a VTS purely for the image associated with it, but 106 GTI/ rallye would be a good buy i recon! Maybe 205 GTI? Pulsar GTI-R if you can stretch a bit? (not sure what insurance group that is in though...)

none of those will be faster than a g40 unless you wrok on them a bit, about a 306 rallye or an older civic type R?

hmm might look into a 205 gti 1.9 but i guess they carry a heavy amount of scene tax, puksar GTi-Rs are group 19 so abit out of the question

i dont want to be changing the head gasket constantly so R5 is abit out of the question? and finding a non chavved one could be hard

i sold my pulsar 1990 red 350bhp @22psi for 1k and that took ages to sell, dropped from 1500 - 1200 - 1000, fresh mot, b/n clutch, tein coilvers and strut braces, new tar ox brakes, giant fmic, uprated turbo and pipe work, hks filter and exhaust, turbo timer, tinted windows, oz alloys, fully colour coded body etc etc.

hated it, only good for 4 wheel spins off the mark. wasted sooo much money on that jap crap and ridiculous on insurance.

Punto gts eat head gaskets, so unless your good with spanners i wouldn't

needs a new screen and i havnt got cover, i need to weld up the sill, handbrake only works on one caliper and the light doesnt come on, wipers only work when heaters are on same with heater.

only payed £350 for it and i cant be bothered to fix it and il get bored sick of it by then as i want something quicker now anyway so il probly give it away when iv taken the bits off worth selling.

renault 5's love breaking down couple of mates have them - one soon to be mag featured and they all break regularly.

punto gt...... i just built one of these for a mate, new gear box, full cage, hybrid turbo, coupe 20v injectors, lancia delta fuel pump, adjustable fpr, revolution bucket seats, custom exhaust, coily's, chip, fmic, new lower arms, bearings, mounts, lower arms, quick shift etc etc.

the main problem is 95% of them have badly cracked heads, a new bare head from fiat is £440. after 8 used heads bought and pressure tested we finally found a good one so had to rebuild that too. it's still not as fast as i'd expect at all.

i shall look at them indeed, matey from college just paid 3k for his Ren5 turbo, sounds sweet with dare i say it - dump valve

you could get an 205 mi16 for 2k my m8 just sold his spare 205mi16 for 800quid.

I'm swaying towards a 205 1.9 as they will probly be more reliable then a forced inducted car as i do alot of miles
