STARLET TURBO.

rapid little thing for not alot of money.

Get a Seat Ibiza GTi 16v cupra sport, can pick those up for £1500 spend the rest of the money on decent coilovers and your laughing!

Buy a tidy nova shell for a few hundred

Buy an XE2.0 conversion for around 400

Buy a decent suspension kit for about 300

Buy decent brakes for around 300

DONE!!

Still got plenty money left to make it look better too

I play with one too at 160bhp and a 106 GTi at a 170bhp... when the dirrtbox is running that is

See how I joke about it... It actually hurts :lol:

starlet gt's are amazing but they are more than £2k and they handle crap.

How about a dihatsu charade gtti? 1L turbos and 115bhp standard i think. plus they are cheaper than starlet turbo's.

a G40 is 113 standard... You can do better than that for 2K surely

Saxo VTS, 106 GTI/XSI

Various quick/quick-ish Corsas/Astras

I'm starting to feel sorry for you now :-(

Pug 205 GTI. Do some research, I've heard that the 1.6's are the engine to have rather than the 1.9 but can't remember why! Old Civics are nice too.

Just found reason. 1.9 engines have a longer stroke so the 1.6s are perky and more revvy whereas 1.9 is more torquey. Hope this helps. Depends what you're looking for but for fun factor the 1.6 seems best.

 Nah it does hurt, really

Starlet GT Turbo without a doubt.

1.3 turbo is easily tuneable and near-enough bullet proof, general build quality and reliability is good, handling is great..

Have a browse through Pistonheads mate, in terms of small turbo or similar cars, obv the G40 is not worth buying a cheap one, anything Italian is gonna be more trouble than its worth for under £2k, i personally wouldnt bother with anything French N/A....

clio 172

106 gti

205 gti

i would have a 205 gti or a nova with either a corsa 1.6 16v or redtop lump

X2...what i would go with if you gave me the £2k to play with...and its kinda still a polo

Audi a3 1.8T.

150 brake. Insurance group 14 IIRC.

And get an older one. 1997-1999 for about 1500 ish. maybe 2k

*Yawn* such a boring car.

Seat Ibiza Gti or Gti Cupra

fiat coupe? cant beleive i am recommending a fiat......

is actually a mk3 golf gti 16v with a few polo bits thrown at it. wouldn't bother with the non turbo early version of the ibiza cupra.
