one a 130 bora torque is 223 lb ft standard so its more 280-300 on a remap, so yes very well

Pug 205 1.9 GTI 130bhp and good torque. My brother in law has 2 of them.

ha, 106 with it's magical mystical chocolate gearbox. reliable i think not.

can get bora pd for a couple of K, wouldn't be the best obviously but still torquey as feck!

205 1.9 GTi for the money. 106 gti's are fairly reliable but many have had their balls handed to them but name a small quick car that hasn't been raged.

Find a nice decent one, with decent history, decent MOT and give it a proper look over.

Other than that i would maybe save a little while longer and broaden your horizons.

My friend has a 106 GTi and its done way into the 100k miles and he has never had a problem with it. He looks after it though and doesn't hand it its arse every time the lights go green.

Get a Seat Ibiza GTi 16v cupra sport, can pick those up for £1500 spend the rest of the money on decent coilovers and your laughing!

ABF engine isn't it? I reckon it'd be a good shout and with 150bhp it's not going to be much slower than the later turbo car...might even be quicker given the weight difference. Guy I know had the 2.0 8v Ibiza and for what it was it was quick! Kept up with VTi-S Civic to about 80mph

I think it's possible to get a ph1 172 Sport for about £2k, but the Clio's don't show mileage well.

Do you have to get a new car now or could you save a whiley longer and get something better?

Yeah ABF Tav, same as in my cordoba. Its quick enough, but not really 'back in your seat' quick, if you know what i mean cordobas are heavier though

Apart from some electric stuff and a bit of leather, the 106 offers nout more than the 205..

205 is probably quicker and a bit more fun to drive, and a much better image to be fair..

Like I said the 8v was as quick as a 170bhp Honda VTi-S (the thingy that looks like a Rover 45/400) up to about 80mph, quite impressive for such a difference in output...but...it's not going to be as quick as the same car with 150bhp...and the ABF is pretty well thought of too? I like the little sticky up roof spoilers you see on them, very F2 Rally Championship.

i know its byist as i had one, but dude, 1990-1992 crx vtec, group 12, and yes group 12 insurance, possibly one of the coolest cars around! easily get a gooden for £2000. no power steering, 160bhp under the bonnet, an engine which car manufactures struggle to match today. interior is stunning, super rare, (even though quite a few on pistonheads and crx o.c) 8000 revs to play with and the sound of a vtec, fuk, you would not be dissapointed. and if its speed you want, you wont get better value for money. and we all know that b16a1 engine is a tough cookie! and against the civic vti, crx has it, only just, but it does, plus insurance is more on the vti and lastly, i know its speed you want and not looks, but those vti's look shit!

yeah i say the same, have a friend i work with who has one of these, its silly quick with the MI16 and pulls like hell. He went to the french car show at santapod one year, he had street tires, a full tank of fuel and a pram in the back, and still managed to come 13th out of 300!!

ha a pram?! that dudes a legend! i had an 106 xsi when i was 17, and it pulled! it was the pre cat model, would beat every little 1.4 on the road, minus a certain few, ie g40, glanza turbo etc, and we all know the legendery chassis these little peugeots have, maybe the 205/mi16 conversion is not a bad idea! but, it is french....

Mr2 Rev1/2 Turbo Pick them up for less than 2k

225bhp standard! 0-60 in 5.6secs standard! Awesome.

I have the rev4 Turbo which is a bit newer and slightly more power 245bhp and 0-60 in 5.2 standard...but that will be double your budget.

Only porb might be insurance, cos they are group 20 due to being import.

But i am 21 with 3 years NCB and i am only £900 on mines with all mods declared

small quick car for in budget id go for the ibiza gti 16v all day long

buy a metro gti....seriously there amazing fun...and tiny
