Hi,

My breakdown cover is up for renewal I was with the RAC with Roadside and Relay home and did not need to use it over the year.

I just renewed my insurance and was offered Flux Rescue for £45 by Adrian Flux Insurance backed by Equity Red Star.

Just wondering if anyone has made use of Flux Rescue and how was your experience? or if not which service would you recommend for a lowered Polo? RAC, AA or some other?

RAC for me.

I use something called AUTOAID.

Basically you pay £35 a year, and its like an insurance policy. Whatever happens, your covered, so if you are a mile from home, or 300 miles away, you can get recovered etc etc, but you have to pay on the spot for it. They accept credit cards, so thats no biggy. You get a receipt off the recovery fella, and claim the money back within 14 days.

It sounded like it was a recipe for disaster, but i had a recovery about 2 months ago, paid £85 on the spot with a card, sent the receipt off and got a cheque straight away.

Heck of a lot cheaper that AA or RAC.

I've got AA cover through my TSB account which i pay £5 a month for (get lots of other things too)

CLutch failed on my in london in one of my old coupes. Called the AA, they turned up 30mins later and the chap was sound. Tweaked the cable so i could select gears and then showed me the quickest way to the M25 so i didnt get stuck again.

Thanks I know you can do that but I wanted personal recommendations in terms of lowered cars etc.

I've also heard that with the AA you have to pay extra for a flat bed recovery, whereas with the RAC it's inclusive; is this true?

yes iirc.

think its £70/80 with AA to be recovered if your more than 50 miles from home.

You can get top cover with AA for yourself in any car which I think is £80 online

AA have been absolutely spot-on in my experience.

They where really quick, no messing about and the guy was sound. but obv different areas etc would all be different.

RAC>AA

Either the AA or the RAC.

Why? Basically they're the only ones where it's in their interest to get you back on the road, the reat use contractors, who'd love to get you into their "approved" garage for some repair bills. Think me and Karl are paying £8 a month for roadside relay with the AA at the minute.

surely your better off with the big ones like RAC or AA, due to the larger number of patrols they have, so youll be less likely to have to wait for ages for help?

RAC, only one bad experience when the nearest flatbed they could find was almost 100miles away and took them 8hours to find me due to english call centres mistaking welsh placenames. , also the nearest recovery company was busy picking bits of chav out of a hedge row 10miles away after a major accident. but they did recover back too south wales, no questions asked and the bloke gave me a coffee when he found me :)

tesco is cheepist , 116 quid for 3 cars

£7.62 a month for full RAC including unlimated milage recovery on a flatbed

not had to use it yet thankfully but nice to know its there

AutoAid FTW. Though if you prefer the big names you can usually get nice deals. AA will give you Nectar points which you can save towards something useful, or you can pay for RAC cover with Tesco Clubcard vouchers and get it free.
