Afternoon

I've been looking at the 6N and 6N2 doorcards closely and it appears that the handles are placed slightly differently - I've read on here that some people have swapped them over....is it as easy as taking one off and putting the other one on or do you have to adapt the grab handle and lever to get out?

Any help would be greatly appreciated !

I've got a full gti interior for my 6n everythink else has gone in easy but the front door cards ent that easy and I'm still trying to get em in!!!!!!!!!. the speakers need moving you need mk5 inner door handles/pulls and they dont match up to the dash from what I've heard so I'm in the same boat may be if we both plead together some one will cast there knowledge up on us LOL !!! :-D the pin rod can be moved to where the new handle is but you will need mk5 handles as they are different to mk4

I'll be going to a scrappy to get the doorcards so can remove what I need from the MK5 - when you say inner door handles/ pulls which bits do you mean?

I mean the door pull that will open the door mate no the grab handle that u use to shut the door

The rears go straight in with little hassel but if you put speakers in the rears you will need to bend the support rod which sits behind the speaker hole.

I know that DUBPRINCE has a full 6n2 gti interior in his 6n but he changed everythink over fom a gti

Rears go in, fronts are a bit more difficult. Handles are in different places, and they don't connect up properly at the dash.

Right, basically you need everything from behind the doorcards from a 6n2 aswell as the tweeter covers from a 6n2. The doorcard doesnt line up properly with the dash but still shuts, this is how it looks

Doesn't look too bad imo allthough it can be resolved by fitting a 6n2 dash, which is what i'll be doing in the future.

FAQ section x2 please I've asked a few times myself

mate that don't match up too bad so I'll have a go Sunday I'd love the 6n2 dash but I don't want to spend much more on the 6n as I want a gti when I'm back from my hols

you need to cut that mirror triange bracket off...then drill new holes for the new tweeter mirror triangle the mk5 has.

Replace the top black guide that sits inside next to the window for the 6N2 one (i dont know the part no off the top of my head sorry).

This will now mean the door card sits onto the door properly.

Now my conversion is fully GTI...i mean wiring, central locking, door mechs, window mechs, THE LOT!! there is nothing left inside apart from the carpet that is 6N.

You will need to drill a new hole for the grab handle (on the door card)- one hole will match up fine, i think the top one...but the other requires a new hole as the handle sits at a steeper angle.

next will be the speaker enclosure- you need the mk5 one as its shallower!

If this doorcard has electric window switchs....prepare to change a shitload! window mechs,door wiring,interior wiring lol...

door mechs have a different wire for the actual door pin...you can take the pins off and swap them between mechs if you dont want to swap mechs...as you will notice the connectors for the central locking may be different.

fit electric windows into my car using the MK5s mechs?
