How on earth did you go about remoulding a set of door cards? "Cut a bit off here and stick it on here" kinda job?

Soak them in water and then when you shut the door they remould to fit the wider mk3 dash ..

Thats the plan mate just collecting parts at the min . Need to sort a unit or garage out tbh , my new housemate has a splitty we need to get to work on aswell .

Pretty much a full stripdown , smooth the bay and then send the shell off to be painted and a couple of bits smoothed . (This time it will be on the road for longer than 3-4 Months before i take it off again as had a bottom half respray in 2008) Being as you work in Bodywork do you know iff there is a film available to stick on the rear arches (like the wide body porsche's) to stop the paint on the arches being pummeld by road grit and chipping it ?

1.4 16v Engine out a Mk4 polo

Either coilovers or air dependant on funds at the time - just isnt low enougth as it is so cant get it stanced correctly on the shock and spring kit .

Some how find some wheels with low enougth ET's or that are wide enougth (Difficult to find tyres in 13/14" over 225 wide)

Interior is all completly out at the min got some recaro's to be trimmed along with my doorcards and maybee dashboard (toyd with the idea of getting it sorted)

I want to build the car how i want it and can take my time whilst it is off the road to get it done properly doing alot of the work myself were possible .

Yeh you can get anti stone chip films and then cut it to the shape of your arches i would try eBay mate

I went over the top with the styling ( I personally think) now looking back at the car it looked sweet but i wouldnt have it as a daily drive.

Sometimes you've got to go there to come back. I grew up and got an audi coupe 2.3, then it broke so I reverted to my childish love of polo gt's.

You on the other hand just need to grow up and start trying to cause shit on here cause rich tells you to.

Glad you got rid to be honest as i think when you messed with the arches it ruined the car tbh. All it needed was the right wheels and height and then boom...... Nice motor. As you said it went too far.

Nothing wrong with old polos for us old timers. The simplicity coupled with the enjoyment you get from them makes them very addictive indeed. You will buy a bigger car, run into bigger problems and then wished you had a polo again.

I agree with you there Barney . Car looked spot on when it diddnt have the arches looked cracking with them aswell but deffinatly not a daily drive i can say that for sure .

I know i will most likely end up reverting back to the polo and getting a G40 . I will in my lifetime own a Mk2 Golf Gti / PoloG40 and Corrado . Corrado next for me as there going really cheap at the min and they are cheaper to insure than a Mk2 Gti .

Dont listen to them mate at the end of the day 90% of the people that used to post on here regually have disapeard prodomenently because of this and the fact that after you have been on a dedicated forum for a prolonged period of time you tend to see the same old same old.

I still come back and have a trawl as i find it intresting :)

I like the look of this car after the arches were done I just feel you never got the stance right so it looked a little odd. The arches were done very well by the looks of things, its just the massive arch gap on the front which let it down. Even if you had raised the rear up to match it would have looked better IMO. Shame you got rid
