I have searched, but doesnt any body have any experiance with this specific kit:-

The reason i ask is because it says its plyg and play, and i dont want to have to mess around with random cabling as i am sure i will go wrong.

How ever if anyone has other easy suggestions for remote central locking kits then please feel free to say.

Also is it easy to open the old key and take out the transponder, and then put it back in if i need to?

Is this transponder easy to brake accidently? :)

its an awesome kit, i totally recommend it.

Plug and play is no exageration. You take harness out of central locking pump (in boot where first aid kit goes) and plug this kit in line, then back to pump. Thats it.

Range is good on the keys, and they are good quality, had mine a few years now.

Just need to put your imobiliser chip in the new key and get a blade cut.

the only extra stuff you may need to do:

Mine would lock when i pressed unlock, and vice versa. Use the wiring diagram provided with the kit, and there are two cables you need to swap to fix it, if you are bothered.

Also if you want your indicators to flash when you lock/unlock, you need to attach the cable to the right cable on your rear clusters. Not critical, and an easy job to do if you want to.

and can you get a key cut in any normal key cutting shop?

i took the chip out of a copied key rather than my original vw one. the copies usually have the chip in a little reb block which you can pull out of the key body. i would imagine you have to cut the vw key to pieces to get the chip out of it.

the blade, i got that cut at a local place for a few quid.

Does any body have an idea how the transponder chip comes out of an original VW key?

i would recommend leaving the original chip in the original key, you can get a key cut for £10-£20, and if you say you only really want the chip, he might do you just the chip copy for cheaper.

Who do you mean by "him" mate? Where could I get a chip copied and is it expensive?

Mister minit, or most key cut places can copy chips. Got mine done in a shoe/key place in the back of sainsburys

is it very expensive to get a chip copied?

i had a look in some shops today.

Both said they did not have the software, one said the chip was encrypted and could be copied.

How ever the other guy said he would have the software in a couple of weeks and it would cost roughly 70 pounds for the key to be cut and chip to be encoded.

Is this more then it should cost?

i think i will want both of the keys with the kit chipped and cut so hopefully they will do a deal for both.

I was looking s this kit but for my 9n, but some1 said the flip key wouldnt work How would you transfer the key form your original to the new 1?? Or can you not??

hmm i dunno mate, i dont think you can transfer the key, but on the RC click website it has loads of replacement flick keys you can order.

You cannot replace an rclick key with a vw key, the remote are totally different. a vw key will work with a vw kit, and an rclick kit with an rclick key. to be fair the rclick keys arnt the worst in the world, you get two with the kit, and if there is a problem (mine has lasted 2 years so far) you can buy a new key on the site for £7.

As far as i know all 6n's have a chip in the ignition, i have had a 95 and a 97 and both had chips in the keys. take your key to (pretty much) any key cut place and they can check if it has a chip in it or not.

What sort of range do you get on your rclick remotes?

I've just fitted mine with the control unit under the dash with the antenna fully extended and I'm only able to use the remotes within about 5-10 metres. Is this normal? cos with my past cars with factory remote C/L the range was much higher.

The key definately has a chip, i got them to check, but he said he doesnt have the software to copy the chip. Also i think i need to find a few more places to get a key cut, as they said they dont have a laser cutter.

laser cut? what mk you got? mines mk4, dont need laser cut for that. just your bog standard spinny blade thing will cut them keys. (or whatever it is called)

Which wires do you connect to make the indicators flash?

cant remeber off top of my head, its all in the instructions.
