Looking good mate

its all sweet now, had a leaky radiator the other day but fixed it

yeah thinking about just selling the kit I've got and getting coilovers, need to wait til i get paid though

id rather not say exactly how much it cost for the fact i dont want the thread to get over run with posts like "you should have had a transplant" etc etc

it wasnt cheap, but it was worth it.

problem I've got now is i want do the gti bottom end swap, but I've spent the money on the engine so its works properly...what to do ay? decisions decisions lol

What other engine mods have you done though? I'd personally get a 4-2-1 with a straight through exhaust system, probably a poloace chip or something similar, and then maybe a BMC or K&N air filter to round it off, not sure what additional power you would see from that on a 16v but its worth considering before you go taking the engine out again, if your not happy with that power then go for it

i havnt done any engine mods just yet,

cant decide what i want to do first lol

my thoughts are a 4-2-1, K&N and cams

but later on i want R1 throttle bodies so i dont know whether to save and do it all in one go or do little bits here and there but have to change things later on :?

started work on my boot build last night,

took a while to decide how i wanted it but got there in the end,

will post pics and keep updated as it comes along :)

finally finished my boot build, well not 100% finished, just need to decided what i want to cover it in, but its in the boot now lol

will get pics up of it later on when i get home,

had a few other things to get sorted aswell, idling problem has now been solved so it no longer revs by itself or stutters,

had new brakes fitted, wanted the g60 fronts but person never got back to me about doing a swap so went for ebc green stuff pads and ebc ultimax discs, the polo also now has wind deflectors, gti splitter and magnecor ht leads.

have a 4-2-1 and front upper strut brace waiting at home to fit and powerflex bushes on the way as the standards are abit buggered now lol

Right, thought it was time for an update on this as its been a while to say the least!

All the engine problems were sorted (or so i was told) but it turned out that they werent, and on new years day the engine went and i was left with gapping hole through the 3rd piston :(

Anyway, bought myself a new engine and decided id had it with garages so time to get busy and learn for myself.

I bought the car completely standard as i wanted it to be my own creation as it were.

Did you ever finish the ABF conversion?

  • Author

yeah finished the conversion, eventually, took a whole lot longer than it should have done, partly due to being let down by some people, partly because i kept changing my mind about things every other week and i only got 3-4 hours of a saturday morning free to work on it.

car itself isnt finished as id like it, but its getting there

thread really needs a big update, have so many pics from along the way, its just finding the time to organise them all and do a write up

Looking good mate, I like the engine bay

Looking forward to update Then

You can also do a rear disc conversion with the mk2 golf gti stub axles, hubs, bearings and discs, the stub axles fit perfect and you can still keep the 4x100 hubs and disc's

so bought a steel sump and thought why not to a windage tray

47_zpse0fecbd6.jpg

what awesome gti dont tell you when buying a steel sump for an abf is you also need to buy 17mm long bolts or use bolts from either the 2.0 8v or a tdi, something i discovered after i turned the key and ended up with a puddle of oil
