tighter ristrictions on modded cars?

Featured Replies

just heard on radio one about trying to enforce tight restrictions on modding cars, did any one else catch it? The mum on it that claimed having nitrous on her sons car killed him, no love, the fact he was driving like a idiot at at least 70 in a 30 killed him. He wasn't a victim of speed he was a victim of his own stupidity. He would probably still of driven like that in a standard car. When are they going to see its attitudes that need changing, not the law...

hmmm... nitrous legally shouldnt be connected on public roads anyway.

how bout they just ban driving? plenty of peeps die every day driving standard cars...

Afaik the law on nitrous is it can be connected but not activated on the road

yea it's been on radio 1 all day, AA calling for a ban on 'sooped up motors'

didnt know that about nos.

as said above, theres nothing wrong with modded cars.

but letting idiots drive anything is wrong.

plus reading the bbc thing, i cant see many peeps being able to aford a car with an extra 200bhp in thier first year! lol

Its a bloody stupid idea imo.

How many car accidents each year involve modified cars?

How many of the drivers involved are under 21?

How many people are looking for a scapegoat?

Cant see it happening and if it does, i'll still drive the G!

Government money making scheme

1. tighten up the law's on modding car's

2. fine people for illegal mod's

3. use the money for something other than improving the countries road network

Job's a good un

....

don't worry about it

there's not enough traffic police on the roads to enforce any law's to do with "illegal modifiying"

This is such absolute horse shit.

Check out 1hr 36min, we've been arguing this is complete bullshit on the radio today.

Load of crap! Just cause they have nitrous doesnt mean they have to use it, as said its illegal to activate on the roads. The problem is the idots driving and not knowing/caring when it is safe to drive "quicker". I mean i have 55 horses under the bonnet....But i dont unleash them all at once :ninja:

Here comes the German system!!!!!

some people have no idea on what they are talking about, that presenter was obviously so biased. and the welsh prick who thinks a 1.2 will hit 130-140. hilarious.

why not? a 1272cc can 8-)

So, if it was made illegal to make a 100bhp car into a 150bhp car, whats the difference between that and a standard 150bhp car? I dont get it.

Its the pricks that are driving that should be banned. Its the reason we have insurance, and the reason most companys wont insure mods.

I can see the system could become like motorbikes...

you have to be over certain ages to have the more powerful bikes.

so 18-20... biggest engine 1.2 / 100bhp!

21-25.. biggest engine 2.0 / 200bhp!

and so on!!!!

But as has been said... its not the modifications, its the pricks who cant drive!

I think its quality, the way they think 'Nos' works just like it does in the fast and furious!

press a button and instantly your at 200mph!!

Traffic cops should be out catching people with no insure or with illigal cars!

From my exp standard cars are worse kept than modded cars E.g i never have bald tyres. but i know of 3 cars in my car park that do! (all standard!) but they'll never get stopped by the police and checked over because there not 2cm off the floor.

takes the piss tbh. another way to blame the whole modding community for anything bad with the roads!!

They would blame us for the credit crunch if they could :disgust:

The thing is, the modded cars they are on about will be the 1.2 Corsa's with just an induction kit and exhaust making alot of noise going down the street. They will only gain like 1 or 2 bhp from those mods so they are pretty much standard.

From my experiance most of the people who do more expensive mods to their cars drive slower...around towns and built up areas anyway.

And to carry on a point from Leigh P, I'm always cleaning my car, checking things out making sure its all legal and above bored and if I do fine anything wrong (duff tyre or light out) its usually fixed within a day. Then you get people who drive standard cars, never even checked tyre depth, can't drive to save their life and think I'm an idiot just because my car is different.

just had a listen to this, i thought the bloke from max power did a good job, he had some good arguments and put his point across well... every one else just kept on banding stereo types about and chatting pure shit tbh.

how do they propose to withold this law , ban rallying from britian , as their all non-standard cars that are road legal .

they gonna have some bloke going round every car in the uk to check that its standard spec , what if its a classic car that bits are unavailable for , eg my gramps 1932 sunbeam has triumph spitfire pistons .

ha ha this is the biggest joke i`ve heard from the goverment yet . not a chance of this going anywhere , and if it does i`m leaving britian for good

is it even the government that are suggesting it tho? so far all i've heard is the AA going on about it. you's think the government would have slightly more pressing things to be doing at the min than worrying about young drivers although if they think it will go down well with 'middle England' then they will probably just do it to try and win votes.

I've had 1 proper car crash and it was a standard car, all my other cars have had something done to them to make them faster and never crashed them. Winner.

yeah, nitrous is dodgy with the law

its extremely flammable as you can imagine..but if it leaks it could explode.

Plus if you crash with it and the firemen dont know about it, they just remove the battery....boom boom

Nitrous isn't flammable.

Nitrous isn't flammable.

a bottle of compressed gas is extremely explosive if exposed to high temps though toby.

Indeed, but it still isn't flammable.
