"putting wheels and a stereo in your car, no that isnt going to make it faster is it?"

loved that comment!

he gets some good replies in

its a daft debate full stop, i can jump in my car, speed up my road, fly over speed bumps, and not give a fuck

why?

because i can

and that is the same logic for all these idiot drivers on road

I've said this for a long time, their needs to be another chain of the police force, with have PSCO's, we need traffic police, but not like the usual traffic fuzz, police monitor vehicles, cameras on them, and just pull people for poor driving offences, lack of signalling, generally poor driving

pull them, show them video, stick them a fine, no points

it will generate good revenue, and when someone continues to get pulled they will think, hell i will think twice about doing that

it would be the only way to get drivers to actually change the way they drive

all age range aswell

instead of making stupid statements like that AA, why not think something up like i just did? the everyday joe who has a better grasp on the rights and wrongs on the road today

How on earth no one took the piss out of that guy on the phone in, stuttering, i only realized till later on

he had nothing to say, jesus he branded every motorist in one statement, class, he was an idiot

off topic, just watched the bbc video

"He's had a nitrous oxide kit added to his Toyota MR2 which boosts the engine from 158 to nearly 300 brake horsepower." Hahahahahaha, is that wiv da boost! what a load of shite! Gas double's the BHP.....Na!

The phone-in's on that were just painful and surprise surprise a knobber from betterdrivingplease.com is also featured.

Agreed that the chap from Maxy P did a good job

That mother whose son died was 22, it's not as if he's a kid is it? He should have known better.

Sorry for her loss and all that, but still, one death has a lot of variables.

that site makes me laugh! moany bunch of cocks.

did anyone else think the 30.......40.....50.....60 now nitrous, 70.80.90 was a bit lame? 150bhp worth of nitrous, on a track and all he manages is like 90 odd...what a ponce!

as mentioned a load of times...its not the cars, its the twonks that drive them.

To be honest, the ill-informed AA spokesman was selectively quoted by the BBC, taking some of his comments out of context. Its the BBC's sloppy tabloid journalism that yet again warrants a bollocking.

The AA spokesman's done himself no favours in that radio 'phone-in though. To start off by saying that installing nitrous gives you 3 times the power of your original engine - utter bollocks. I'd guess a majority of people with nitrous kits only use them for track/drag use because the gas doesn't come cheaply. And those that use them on the road aren't likely to be running 200bhp of nitrous on their 100bhp shopping trolley are they?! Can't be many engines that you can actually do that on! I'd say a majority of the people I know running gas on the road have only ever used a 25 or 50bhp shot - hardly a big deal, especially if you're just using it to combat lag on a turbo'd motor.

On several of the hot-rod and drag racing forums people are complaining to the AA, and refusing to renew breakdown cover/insurance policies with them on the strength of this guy's comments. I was impressed with the Max Power editor's comments, his arguement seemed to be the only reasoned one presented. Everyone else had a very biggoted view of the modifying scene, and minimal understanding.

I suspect it was just a bit of a slow news day at the BBC to be honest, and with the recent Fast and Furious film being promoted it gave them something vaguely topical to discuss.

that prick who kept stuttering who thinks a 1.2 can go 140... OH MY DAYS its them people you just want to punch!

he thinks because 1 person drives their car like a cock and speeds EVERYONE does.

I'm peed off now -.-

just think how much buiness would suffer if they banned people from modding car all the mags and after market parts. not going to happen

to be honest dont some mods make for safer driving, BIGGER (better) brakes. or better tyres for example

i think there will always be conroversy about this

if you spend ££££'s on your motor the chances are you dont speed because u dont want to fcuk your car up! modding is a personal choice in my opinion! you wouldnt let them tell you how to decorate your house would u?

fcuk the AA, GOVERMENT ETC ETC what happened to good old fashioned FREEDOM

They pull me- pull it off- and i just stick it straight back on

how can they govern the mods and decides whats heavily modded and whats not and too right it's a chooice and think of all the old retired old men needing something to do during the day.

i made my polo safer ever drive a mk2 polo the brakes aren't the best

Wasn't it on Top Gear where they modified that Renault Avantime, and Clarkson at the end said how much in the U.K. we spend on modifying cars? I'm sure it was in the £100 millions.

till I started playing with the car, I drove like a dick

What, you didnt indicate at junctions? haha

Sorry, cant imagine you driving like a loony Jon!

Back when I was young and stupid mate, just after I passed

I dont believe you .. You drove like an angel showing me how quick the Derv went ..

the bloke that said about a 1.2 going up to 140, was he actually spluttering or is that a technical fault?

fecking spaz

To be fair, there are plenty of 1.3 G40s that'll top 140mph - some that'll top 150 or more.

it's all these old farts seeing some riff raff caining it round with a body kit on that gives all of us a bad name.

Hang on a minute... as far as I can see all they've said is 'NOS is dangerous', completely out of the blue and completely unsubstantiated. Where do they expect this to go? :S
