A quick question about pressed number plates...

Featured Replies

I apologise in advance, as I realise this type of topic has been posted numerous times in the past, but I really do need some advice!

Now Dubmeister have started to do the legal pressed plates, a lot of companies have started asking for proof of ownership and proof of identity. I am happy to provide a scanned image of my driving license or passport, but do not have the V5C form as I bought the car on Saturday, so cannot prove I legally own the car.

I have found several on ebay, some of which seem okay, but then ask for the V5C and driving license. There is one seller who does not ask for this, but the font is not the regular UK type I am looking for, in fact, it is a random font they have chosen which slightly resembles the original Charles Wright font.

I also found Platemyride.com, which is all fine until you get to the payment section. It works out at nearly £40 for a pair with velcro, including the £5 shipping for 'delivery in five working days'. This seems extortionate compared to ebay prices!

So, I am looking for a site which sells pressed aluminium number plates in the modern UK font, with no band on the left side, and no details on the bottom of the plate. It also has to be a site which doesn't ask for proof of vehicle ownership...I know it is a lot to ask, but is there a site out there that sells such a thing for a decent price?

why not just wait for the V5 to come back, it wont take long ;)

I know I probably should, but everytime I see the car with old, warped, faded acrylic number plates, it makes me sad! The car deserves better!

Am I right in thinking it takes a couple of weeks?

yee a coupel of weeks i would say, well go to halfords and see if they can nock you together some new plates, you MIGHT need a V5 still though.. if you do then just wait mate, i know how hard it can be at times but still! rome wasent built in a day :-)

I suppose you're right. A couple of weeks isn't too long. I think I just got a bit impatient having looked at twenty different sites all saying they need proof etc.! Cheers mate.

No, but it was nearly demolished in one! lol.

Just wait. You cant rush perfection apparently.
