I was wondering if there are any paint experts around as i dont seem to be able to get how the touch up paint for the car (right colour) is suppose to match, whenever i shake up and keep the paint at the right temp it always comes out much darker than the actual colour of the car. At first i thought the car has been out in the sun etc but thats not it, even on a new car the paint doesnt match and the paint isnt that old either.

The car is reflex silver and i dont have a clue how to get rid of key scratch marks down two doors, tcut can only blend in and hide the lighter marks but the majority of them are deep. The touch up has filled in the deep marks but now i have lines across my car which are darker.

any ideas/ suggestions are welcome

tbh brushed on metalics never match that great , you could look around for a lighter shade

Silver is an absolute nightmare to match up

Best off having the whole panel painted, but even then that panel may come out a slightly different shade to the others around it

Yeah I've noticed alot of silver cars where the panels don't match up, even cars that haven't been resprayed don't seem to match up.

does this only happen with silver cars ? i never thought that silver would have been that hard to match up.

i have boght the touch up from this company and it is perfect ( they do the exact color for you).

i have so many straches I'm not bothered about it atm, when ill have money for a full respray I'm going to paint it alpine white or bentley white :)

Use G3 compound polish. This is a harsh polish which takes the scratches out. also you get G10 compound which is a less granulated polish.

It is best to use a machine polisher for this and also it is amazingly good to get the car clay bard after this comes up amazing.

Yeh thats how it works. Its made by FARECLA.

Ordered some G3 to test, i dont fancy going in with G10 as thats for much deeper marks. Is there anything you can do if it has gone through to the primer? All i need now is a good cloth to use with the G3, where do you guys get your clothes from?

Hey man the G3 is for the deeper scratches and the G10 is for finishing. also you will have to be their for a while to get down to primer even with an industrle polisher. i normally use those blue kitchen clothes to put it on then take it off with a nice micro fibre cloth thats when i am not using the machine polisher.

thats great, how do you know when to change from G3 to G10?

if you use G3 first it will take out the little scratches and the big ones. the G10 will then make it smoother. You have to take your time whilst doing this as it wont get ride of them rite away you have to keep working on it over and over again. you should spend easy 40 mins to do one panel (like a door size etc.) about 10-15 mins G3 then when your happy use the G10 for the rest of the time. should work well if you use plenty of elbow grease.

you wont be able to get through to the primer unless you are there for a very long time. you only do it to get the scratch away. if its that deep that you think you will go through to primer it may not be a polishing job. it may even be a respray job. :(

i hope i can get most of the scratches out when the kit comes as it sounds like its a half a day job sat there scrubbing away. I could really do with posting some pictures but your feedback has been well received and much appreciated. The key scratches i would not say are that deep, if you move your finger over it there is no more deep cut as I've used Tcut on it before. Its just a much lighter colour, i assume if its primer its going to be very bright? but you can only see the bight colour if you look at it head on, any other angle and you cant see it

i took the day off to try the products, i am just taking a break after working at a small area for 45mins. I can see the difference almost instantly, you need to get right close to see the key scratches now. They were very deep so going to take some pics now and after. I have to say using a cloth takes a lot of work, to get rid of deep key scratches.

I am surprised you cannot just use grit 2000 wet and dry then use g10 to finish it off?

If i manage to remove the key marks on both doors, it will be 1up for bodywork rookie and less abuse from the gf
