anybody got a tidy answer?

polo gti - heavy, suffer from gearbox issues but have a 'quality' feel.

corsa sport - done to death, x16xe lump suffers from rings and valve stem seals but is quicker than the polo.

106 gti, - made of tin, suffer from gearbox issues, are a bit girly but do go fairly well.

Aiii, i had the corsa gsi, picked it up for £200 great little car, thrashed the shit out of it, got back in the polo gti and felt really slow, but would have a polo gti for looks anyday, pug 106, not to bad little cars, at the end of the day its just a pug with a 1.6 in! but still quicker then the polo gti and corsa gsi

The polo is far superior cuz its a polo lol!!

never been a fan of the 106 cuz its french &made of tin foil,

& the corsa is quick but runs out of steam too quickly.

......or mayb I'm biased :?

the corsa doesnt run out of steam, its pretty quick up to 130mph

I was talking about this at work my mate says the polo is wayy slower than a 106 but in the polo u get a better feel and feel more sercurebeing honst if i was going 2 spend the money i would just get a a3 20vt

A corsa sport is not comparable to a polo gti, there about as cool looked as a austin metro, corsa's are outdated, u'd get pulled over no end of times! (chavvy as fook!). and a standard corsa sport vs a standard polo gti? the gti would p*ss all over it! the only good thing going for it is that its cheap!

I've owned a GSI Corsa and it was faster than the Polo no doubt, good for 130 and not too shabby getting there. Fantastic rumble off them with the right induction kit and exhaust.

However as much as it was good fun, it was always losing fluids from everything. I had to carry around power steering fluid, coolant and oil every where i went and top up all the time.

As someone said you are more likely to get pulled on a Corsa.

The Polo has a much better fell about it, more refined and more toys for your money, HID's , climate control, BBS wheels.

Cant comment on the 106 as i have never had one but they are French and we all know what there build quality is like. The fact its just a Saxo VTR in disguise as well. Good if your looking for parts though.

a mk5 polo gti wouldnt piss all over it, the corsa sport would, but the 1.8t polo gti would piss all over it!

You'll have infinitely more fun in something french, but long journeys will give you chronic back pain and you'd best be good with a soldering iron! ;)

Seriously though, it's upto you, you tell us! What do you want from the car? If handling and speed is really what mattered to you you wouldn't be going for a small 90s FWD hatch.

Some of these replies are ROFLfodder though.

Polo = win, 106 = win, Corsa = fail

Oh, and Corsa = German

The fact its just a Saxo VTR in disguise as well.

VTR or VTS?

VTR or VTS?

VTR

polo gti = win hands down.

had a mate with a 106 gti, nippy little cars, but get in them and they just feel cack. drop the polo on coilies and it will handle just as well if not better, far mor toys as said earlier! polo's are defo built better.

as for corsa's whatever you buy from about l reg to x reg they all look the same, they're just a poop. i had a sport before, and gotta say my gti's far nicer and definately quicker......... :-)

VTR or VTS?

VTR

VTS. And the 106 is slightly more hardcore again.

I stand corrected! Isnt it the same block anyway just different head? Thats the difference between a VTR and VTS?

corsa is spanish chum.

also much more easily tunable engine options for the corsa.

vtr is 8v vts is 16v, both 1.6 na

VTR = 8v and ~90/100 BHP depending on year

VTS = 16v and ~120 BHP

if your looking for speed id go for the 106 hands down, they handle superb, and go like stink, would destroy the other two.

my mate had a 2.0 redtop corsa, and 106 gti's with choice mods still annoyed him.

only thing i dislike about the 106 is the image that comes with it.

youl look a lot cooler in a 6n2, and youl look a pikey in a corsa

It would beat a 1.6 Corsa easy. I drive a Lupo GTI and had a burn with a Corsa C 1.8 SRI (125bhp like mine) on way back from work yesterday and burned him quite nicely :D So i can't see a 6n2 GTI having a problem with a 1.6 Corsa lol

Thing is my VTR was quicker than the Corsa C 1.8 SRIs, they are just generally slow and shit. The Corsa B 1.6 16vs are quite nippy.
