calling all 17/18 year olds!

Featured Replies

i just got a quote on my new mk3 coupe 1.05 from Adrian flux and with keeping it standard and being 17 they want £2000

and if i put my BBS RA's on they want nearly double that. so i rang them up again to see what the cost would be if i said that the BBS RA's were factory fitted and they said oh thats alright if the factory has fitted them but we still want £2000.

I'm sure half of the lads on here are 17/18 and theyve done tonnes of stuff and surely your not paying £4000 for it all, or have they just not been declaring their mods?

and 17/18 year olds got any insurance quotes/policies/companies they want to share :)

or anyone with any info or recommendations

thanks max

yeah thats what i have mate, how is it so cheap for you tho?

how old are you lol?

mine all come to like £4000?

max

4000 for a 1.05 is rape!

just go on your dads insurance, direct line have no claims for named drivers too. or get 3rd party in your name will be way cheaper.

I'm on FUW now though paying 500 for the mk1 fully comp at 19 in my own name.

I still don't have insurance!!!! I get it on the 24th woooo!!! passed in january and got my car 4 days later. and it just sitting there!!! but not long now

I'm going with direct line and using 2 years no clames on my moped drops it by £600 fully comp! so its only £1400

I'm 18 now , just do a few quotes , try confused or something first, you would have to be mad to pay that much for a 1l polo, its not worth it

deffinatelly!

you must be doing something wrong no?

like what tho?

what other deciding factors are there?

and what companies do you recomend for the above?

thanks max

direct line, farmers union

just go on gocompare or confused.com.

easyest

Ring the companies rather than going on the net

I'm with Endsleigh,

Punched my details in on the site came up at £2500

Called them, said the exact same details to a man on a phone and he said £1500

On your own insurance, with NCB your not gonna get miles better than that on a 1L.

I got a qoute as just passed 2 days ago for £1358 with breakdown Cover (TPTT)

I agree with ringing the companies, negotiations are often possible when you're actually talking to someone. I got insured with tesco at age 18 on my standard 1.3 mk3 for 1800ish. The fact that you're male and only just started driving is a killer but we've all gotta get through it

Fully comp by the way.

direct line seemed pretty sound to me when i was 17, i got a standard 1.3 mk3 insured in my own name for £1450, payin £750 now for my mk2 golf at 18 when i got the policy, doesnt seem bad to me u have to put up with high prices as a kid but they'll go down eventually lol

try more than, I'm 20, driving 3 years, 0 no claims, no crashes, got insured thirt party fire and theft on a my crx 1991 vtec for £1000, changed over to a gt 1.3, and its £700, which is fair i think, some old cars seem to still sit in low insurance bands, some dont, weird

Try brentacre or HIC they were really good at prices and cover all mods

Admiral were quite good aswel, but they are a bit wierd when it comes to lowering your car.

More Than they dont cover mods that increase accleration, top speed or handling.... leaves you with only visual mods. (got a friend who works for More Than) But its always best to phone up and check.

My mate for his first car (1.2 corsa) went with Quinn Direct, got to choose 4 mods aswel, but they can increase the price of the policy depending what you've got.

not for 17 year olds pal

Ring the companies rather than going on the net

If you phone they can normally bring the price down a little to seal the deal.

Get quotes for both 3rd party F&T and fully comp, sometimes theres not that much difference in price. If there is a big difference then youve got to think about is it worth going fully comp....

I know someone 23 with a brand spankin focus ST paid £400 coz it was in army barracks!? Just tell em thats where you live! Just say its kept on the drive even if its not, that makes a hell of a difference. For info I pay £430 on a 6n valver no mods i'm 23 with Churchill. I used to pay £1200 on a 1.0l 106 when I was 17 though...

I'm 17 with a 1.4cl 8v, insured with churchill fully comp, £1254 :) not too bad but not cheap either lol.

Well i got a quote on My BMW and it was £2900 for year coz i am 16. Then i got quote on a VW POLO 1.4 16v and it Was AMAZING. Only £894 proper belter. :-D :-D :-D

what company was that with ?:)

I'm 17 and only pay £777 tpft for my 1l mk3 polo coupe on my own policy with direct line, joys of been a girl! :D
