And also take into consideration, when people say there getting no-claims as a named driver with direct line, thats ONLY with direct line.

So you couldn't go to churchill and say you got 1year ncb, only directline acept it.

when i had my gt at 18 i was payin 1100 with elephant

£665 tpft on my 1.3 mk3 polo with bell,

its my policy with my mum and dad as named drivers,

i dont know if your allowed to do that when they dont drive it but it would be 1400 by myself.

i passed my test just over a year ago... and my first car was a mk2 golf 1.6 and i was on my dads policy as a named driver and it was £1800 with direct line, the plan was i was guna stay for a year on that and then get a policy of my own with them using the NCB i had earned as a named driver with them. however i got a mk2 jetta 1.3 and the swapped it over on the policy but it didnt go down. after about three months i got bored of the slowness of the jetta and i decided to use my mk2 golf again and get my own policy, i paid £1100 tpft with unlimited milage and legal cover and aa rescue with morethan. i think this was really good considering it was a 1.6 and i had been driving less than 6 months.

i then swapped my mk2 1.6 golf for a mk4 golf 1.4 16v back in december and it worked out cheapest to go with adrian flux as it was guna go up stupid money on morethan. i then haggled like fooook saying i got these better deals off other companies and kept ringing them back saying that their quote was just beaten in the end i got it down to £1050 on a mk4 golf with ADRIAN FLUX(with norwich union), I'm only 18 still and at that point i had been driving for less than i year still.

then i sold the MK4 golf and bought the 6N 1.4 8v polo that i have now and the insurance went up to about £1200 with adrian flux, i am planning now to stop changing my cars lol iv had 5 in the first year of driving but yeah hopefully this should help...here a little list incase you cant be assed to read the whole post lol of the companies/car/circumstances/price i have had.

I passed my test in april 2008 - all policies below are TPFT

. Direct line- £1800 named driver (dads policy) just passed- age 17 MK2 Golf 1.6

. Direct line- £1800 named driver (dads policy) 4 months driving- age 17 MK2 Jetta 1.3

. MoreThan- £1100 my own policy 6 months driving- age 18 MK2 Golf 1.6

. Adrian Flux-£1050 my own policy 8 months driving- age 18 MK4 Golf 1.4 16v

. Adrian Flux-£1200 my own policy 1 years driving - age 18 MK4/6N Polo 1.4 8v

I think i have a fair insurance quote on most of them but still could do with being alot cheaper.

The quote with adrian flux are with Norwich Union but if i do a quote with Norwich union direct it goes up to about £3000 so I'm guessing A Flux is taking on my risk.

hope this helps some people

cheers,

steve

first years inusracen was with Quinn , something like £800 on provisnal licience then once i passed my test it went up £350 , now with tesco one years no claims and fully comp paid £700,

Oh but mines a MK3 1043cc polo

Anyone heard/tried of Collingwood insurance?

You can only get insured if you a learner though on any car upto Ins' group 15. but after you've passed they'l keep you insured until your premiums over and you get you Ncb (if you haven't rapped it yet)

I'm 17, for a Polo Gt and a 306 1.9td my premium was 879Pounds (each) and and it stayed the same when i passed.

i get a NCB if i dont F*ck up Obviously Haha, so i'll get pretty cheap insurance hopefully when i renue.

give it a go if your a learner, i got a Foooking good deal in my opinion.

safe.

I'm with adrian flux

1400 on a mk2 polo 1.3 coupe

works out at 140 a month

i rang up and said i got a cheaper quote than they origanaly gave me from eliphant and they went about 200 cheaper than that :)

1 little lie wont hurt

got a scirocco with quinn and its £1258, got a quote with them for a mk3 1.3 gt and it was £1400!!

who makes up the quotes?

In my first year of driving. 17. 6n2 1.0L. modified to look like a 6n2 gti, So wheels grill set, fogs, etc. 650 quid with Quinn. Fully comp.

I got my valver at 17, dropped it and it was 1200 in my mums name, at 18 went in my name at 1500.

bad idea if you do have mods, your just paying for insurance which isn't valid! you may aswel not bother!

I'm 18 and i have a 1.05 Mk3 Breadvan,

On my first year with directline when i was 17 was just over £1200 fully comp with me as the only driver,

with a year of no claims i now pay just under £650, which i think isnt that bad tbh!

i'm 17 i drive a 1.4 on my own insurance on a provisional at the moment but insurance company i'm with has offered a deal where they won't up it when i do pass my test. found it off confused.com after a long time searching for quotes. i pay just under 120 a month now, thats just 3rd party fire and theft with "mymotorquote.com". give it a go! :)

i haven't passed yet but I'm puttin in quotes ther all coming out as 2000as the cheapest but i got 1800 on tinternet with direct line and if you put your perant on it stil lowers it and you get ncb and i have a mk3 boulevard 1.05l so I'm in the same boat but I'm going to give direct line a ring see if its cheaper in person

yeah directline are good but if your under 18 you have to pay and in one sum wich i cant and they do not insure cars that have any kind of modification including clear indicators lol

Thats quite good tbh,

I'm 17 drive a 1.4 8v 6n few mods declaired rims ect (the usual) £1254 full comp with good ol churchill. (own policy ect).

I'm also gettin fisted beacuse it says mines a boulevard on logbook when it says fox in th boot so I'm guner ring dvla to get it changed as it takes 200ish off and yeah i no i have my test 2mra soo need to find sum cheapness quikk

Anyone saying directline is a good idea; It's not! They don't allow mods till you're 21. Go online and get a quote with bell, stick your rents on as named drivers. I'm 18, 1 years experience, 0 years no claims, and it's just over £600. I've declared all my mods aswell, even down to the deleted side repeaters.

ill try it now brother.

Did you pass then? :-)

Mine was £1000, when I passed at 17 named driver, then I had an accident (own fault) now paying £1400 still 17, renewal was in February. This is a 1litre mark3.

  • 4 weeks later...

Mines £680 a year fully comp I'm 17 drive a 1.4 8v 6n with all my mod's declared

only been on road about a month

my own policy

with the co-op but got discount as i work 4 them :-D
