mk3 polo 1.3 NZ

Featured Replies

bought the car for £121 on ebay. head gasket was going, there was a fucked thermostat in block.

heres what it looked like

BOWlCrwWkKGrHgoOKiEEjlLmgM5VBJuRvZ5.jpg

first thing i did was interior, took those shitty seats out and door cards off...

(carpet for rear is just out of a mk2 golf just temp though)

DSC00600.jpg

replacement for those seats are 2 bucket recaros...again from the same golf mk2 16v =]

DSC00598.jpg

due to onl having 2 4" speakers in dash i stuck in this beast for now (running centre speaker off 2 rear outputs, (left + and right -) this thing kicks better than any other sub iv seen! light lense there to show u how small it is. its got an 8" sub, its ported for better EQ.

DSC00599.jpg

changed the wheels to some Parrelli P's (9 P's)

DSC00605-1.jpg

nasty ding from perv owner (female) lol one on both sides. both light lenses were cracked so they needed replacing....tinted those, well just reverse and indicators

DSC00564.jpg

sanded it down, can see where the dents were...

DSC00592.jpg

first time filling and dont think i did to bad...

DSC00593.jpg

masked it up to spray down

DSC00594.jpg

the cheap paint i bought was more or less a perfect match! supprising

DSC00595.jpg

DSC00601-1.jpg

bit of a blemish, paint ran out and then it came out blotchy...needs redoing..

DSC00602-1.jpg

my mate found his old exhaust clip (was on his fiat chinc) was funny so i left it on

Brutal... but i have to agree, red badge ftl, bump strips off though just need to get rid of the glue! nice base though

Looks great so far. Your doing a good job there!

For that glue you want a caramel wheel from a bodyshop supplier. Its a soft rubber wheel you attach to your drill for removing things like that!

Nice work with the bodywork mate . looks a good job to me :)

Looks like a tidy litte base for you .

Will look nice just dropped a little on a nice 13" wheel .

Look forward to watching this progress..

What are you doing with the rear bench ??

looking good there , dosnt look to bad,

if i was closer i would have considered that interior , its epic , i like it

cheers, not great, need to figure out how to get a shine instead of a matt finish, it does still need alot of work.

i took the strips off because i cant stand them, they were HUGE. I'm getting g40 wheel arch and skirts. but still no rub strips though lol. yeah it does look shit the red badge. did it to see what it looked like, but then ran out when i did the back badge. not got any disposable money atm so will have to wait. saying that i have an audi grill so will do tht audi badge black.

plans for future...

g40 side skirts and wheel archs

1.6 gt high lift cams, P+P head, lighten/ ballence flywheel and crank, bigger injectors....thinking 150 bhp 20vt ones...not sure yet. custom manifold (to house the injectors) I'm unsure which ones to go for. 1.3 gt injectors will go straight in my inlet though.

find some 13" wheels (want some compomotives but not sure if u can get them in 13")

g40 shockers and springs

all i can think of.

with my engine conversion I'm going to put a role cage in etc.

yesterday decided to cut some springs...i didnt want to, seen the effects of it and not pretty but my mates talked me into it...

rear arch before they were cut (2 coils at back) one at front, but thinking of cutting one more at front, not sat right.

DSC00617.jpg

DSC00621.jpg

as you can see theres no grill....my mate was fitting the grill but had to do a wee bit of modifying the front section...

DSC00615.jpg

thats it, all that had to come out. then drill through the grill and bit on the front panel then self tapping screw, then sorted, not going anywhere!

didnt get a decent pic of the grill. bumper was off to see if i could fit some fogs to the front panel, but no i haven't a clue on how to do it. might need to make some bracets.

DSC00623-1.jpg

how do fogs mount then? anyone know?

looks so much better lowerd abit dunt it , how do you do it , i think i want to :) , and what effects does it have pal?

as for the car its coming on well, the things i would do now are

Clear indies

i dont like the PSlots but thats my opinion. so i would get some new rimage.

give it a good t-cut

paint the filler cap black or red :)

have u replace the bump strips?

and is it illegal to drive a car with out a back bumper on?

max

erm, implications of springs being cut are, if you get fat air, then theres a danger of the springs comming out of the seat. and then you are handling will become fucked, so ull crash and die. but then u wont care lol.

all i did was get a grinder to them, find the coil end, cut directly above it, then take out the coil i cut, seat the new coil end in the seat, try and bend the spring to sit as flush as you can to the base. sorted, just dont get air lol

want some clear indicators, but skint atm.

i wasnt some 13" wheels but not sure what ones...any ideas?

tcut, doesnt work tried it like 3 times, my mates got a buffer, its fucked atm, needs taking appart and fixing. so when its fixed I'm gonna do it with that that should sort out the paint work. then gonna wax and polish it to fuck bring out the paint as much as i can!

I'm unsure what to do with the filler cap got a red one (origonal one) seen someone put monopoly money on one, gonna give tht a go, looks funny. also seen someone burn it and stick it back on, tht looks good too.

I'm not replacing them, there is resin still stuck to it but i have blsters from trying to take them off with a hair dryer and my thumb. tryed petrol and tht didnt work. any ideas?

all my bumpers are on, just took it off beifly. more importantly i thought so, but went to the unphassed meet last night and a mk1 orange 20vt, 365bhp tned up bumperless...although it did have a chin. lol

DSC00643.jpg

thought it was funny.

hmmm i like it with out bumpers, do you think it is road legal?

cus they are ther to be bumped lol

hmmm if your after some 13's id go for some minilies and get some spigots and wobble bolts to mek um fit :@

as for the cutting of the springs a supose it dunt seem that hard, what about if i just took like 1-2 coils off? will i still run the risk of dieing? lol

did you cut all four springs then or just back/front?

and i forgot to ask, i think my coupe CL is the same colour as yours and mine has some patches of fookin surface rust on the very bottom of the doors and behind the arches , just small patches tho, and i wanted to do it my self but dont want to fookin spray it with the wrong paint

what did you use?

max

yea pic would be great you if you could send them to joestanton4@hotmail.co.uk , where abouts are you located might take a drive up and come and get em soon !

Get rid of the crap off the sides, get some lowering springs then I think your onto a winner.

i bought it from my local car shop. its called vw tornado red. can get it from halfrauds didnt get the paint code or anything just picked it up, check you are paint code in the boot. my mate did the spraying, i cant do it lol.

thought about mini wheels, just not sure on how to fit em, dont no how those wonky bolts work. whats the stud diameter?

i cut 2 springs out of the back and 1 out of the front shocks. it catches on the back if i go over a speed bump but need to role the archs. plus going to take out another coil from front. so long as you secure the coil end you are fine.

DSC00801.jpg

while its out gives me time to finally fix the stereo wiring though, gonna solder them on (as previous owner cut the plug)

got small wiring update comming soon! not much to be done on tht, thought it would take for ever! might actually strip it completly! would it be best to leave all the dead wire in? ir take it completly out???

so off to come was...

Central locking airlines. will be putting in the eletric one u can buy of ebay.

Rear door wiring (due to the wiring being off a 5door).

The alarm was built into it....never worked like lol so i chopped tht off...

Arial wiring running up the stereo wire. will be putting one off a mk4 golf on the roof, then gonna run it down under the carpet to stereo.

not sure if i should clip off the Air pump wiring though might come in handy for the electric wiring.

looking good chap

trick with the chopped springs drill 3 holes in the base where the springs sits and hold the spring in place with jubilee clips mot bloke by me suggested zip ties for my fiesta but i figured jubilee clips would be stronger i gave my mk1 fessie death and I'm still alive but i only took 1 coil out cos the 50/50 drop sat slightly higher at the front

hope this helps
