I was talking this over with my other half earlier whilst dealing with stand booking for Stonor park and it got me wondering, how hard is it to do?

Theres not really any shows that local to me although there are places which one could be held at. I do have plenty of ideas of things which would be ace to see at shows which would make paying the entrance fee alot more interesting so i may look into it out of curiosity for future reference.

IMO. paying to look at a load of parked shiny cars and a handful of traders isnt worth the entrance fee but if there was more things to do, maybe more people would be interested.

Thoughts?

I've been to some meets but they were only locals so apologies if my idea already exist at bigger events.

Awards could be given at the end of the event for different things such as rattiest car, loudest exhaust, nicest engine etc?

The biggest problem id imagine is convincing people that your event is better than the next one

How about fun stuff where youll get people connecting etc, stuff like pit stop challenge or setting a little course out for a car to go round, but just by people pushing the car. Friendly competition will interest loads of people

A pushing race is an awesome idea, aswell as a straight race you could do push parking too :biggrin:

Could also see how many people can fit in a polo?

I can tell you it takes up a bloody lot of your spare time if you actually want people to come to the event. Got the first Mk2 Golf Owners Show at Billing in a few weeks and it has taken alot of effort!

Booking a stand consists of sending an email, a show is a little more taxing.

Events need to be whored for attendance, it's like doing a gig and it's not easy

No push and hard work to get people there, then you get a no show or they think they gotta a better place to be

lap dancing, i'd happily pay the entrance fee if there was lap dancing

cash flow -event will want booking up front, flyers, design etc will also need cash. Until stall holders and public have paid the entrance fee - who's gonna cash flow it.

To organise a rolling road day is about my limit - and that takes more than booking a venue!

It was only a thought in passing really. The nearest show to me is springfest and i thought it would be good to have one on my doorstep! lol.

Maybe in the future i can persuade afew of my 'contacts' to help fund a show and advertising would be abit easier with the people i know in the radio sector.

I just feel afew of the shows during the year are overpriced for what they actually provide so maybe i'd understand their thinking if i was to try it myself.

I really enjoyed the DJ's at Westside last year...

I get bored walking round acres of cars (i can do that at Sainsburys ) and at springfest, there must've been 15 traders at the most. Ended up sitting in the car for a couple of hours

I may contact afew places around here which have the capability of holding a large event to see whats involved etc.
