4x108 et 18ish 65.1mm bore on 1.9 gti wheels.

1.9s are fast, 1.6s are a poor mans gti - the 1.4 xs is a nippy thing as its light engined and keeps up with a 1.6.

300cc difference same engine different capacity - less toys in a 1.6 as std, the wheels too are different.

nice one :)

what would some wellers 13x7 et 0 run like on a 1.9 ? would be lowered on a decent set of springs and shocks and arches rolled etc ?

i know I'm starting to go into detail :p but I'm wanting to rock one they are amazing little cars by the looks of things.

PS how difficult is it to squeeze some more BHP out of the 1.9 lump if anyone knows ? jsut some simple mods make any big diffrences ?

Thanks again :)

doubt you would get the 13s over the brakes to be honest, then it would handle like shit

the engines are hammer an chisel sorta things - so its the usual small mods 4 branch, filter and exhaust.. or an mi16 conversion

205 Gti's go well mate ...

A friend has a stripped out 1.6 running on boddies and it goes well and handles the nuts ..

who told you that?

not much between them.....1.6 is a drivers car (ie needs to be driven, revved and changing gears all the time),1.9 is just toruey. iv had a 1.6 when i was 19....id have another

1.6 has a better gearbox than the 1.9,all the lads i know that have had 1.9s/mi16s have used the 1.6 gearbox

1.9 gti wheels are the sex!

if your after more power just mi16 it......haveing driven one i know id have one

who told you that?

me having owned 2 x 205 xs, 2 x 1.6`s, 1 x 1.9 and a few diesels.....

what exactly are you referring to as being incorrect?

I wouldn't say the 1.6 is the poor mans GTi anymore. I would find the best condition one you can, a ragged 1.9 won't be as fun as a factory tight 1.6.

205s are just so fun! Fit a 24mm rear arb and 306 gti-6 shocks and I doubt you will find anything more fun on the lanes. Watch out in the wet though :p I have heard people say that the XSs are more fun and chuckable than the GTis, but having never driven a GTi i couldn't comment. What I can say is that I beat every GTi in my tweeked 'garros on sunday at the Dimanche sprint ;)

point i was getting at.....theres only 15 bhp between them?

never wasted my time with XS's

owned two 1.6s, plenty of mates that have had 1.6/1.9s/mi16s

You might want to give one a try! The TU3S engine is a beautiful revvy little engine and the lower weight at the front supposedly makes it better balanced. More like a stiffer 106 :)

What is the offset of the standard wheel ?

That depends on whether it's a 1.9 or 1.6

Offsets are different.

1.9 wheels on a 1.6 sick out more than they would on a 1.9.

My bro had a 1.6, was fucking good fun when it worked, very good spec too (electric windows, pas, central locking etc)

Handled very well too.

They're a cracking car if you can find a decent one 8-)

They are nippy little bastards, my GT was a little quicker then my mates XS but his was a dog tbf, one well maintained and serviced would have gone better i reckon. Not a waste of time if you find a nice one cheap esp as a daily.
