Bottom end would just go?

What you mean?

Your bottom end will fuck up?

If you mean that ofcourse it wont, I'm using an AAU bottom , yours is the 1.3 AAV.

Is that stronger like?

Ima noob on engines. :/

The AAU is off the 1.05 mate lol.

I wouldnt say theres any difference in toughness.

Phill j supercharged his with a g-lader and the only thing it did was spit its water out i think.

Dont be worried about tuning it.

If i was you, id install a GT cam, with 4 branch.

Thats if your abit of a novice.

If you arnt , id get it on Carbs.

Total noviceee, what would I expect powerwise with a GT cam and 4 branch mani?

No idea mate, but a big improvment non the less. Alot more lively and rev happy.

We'll have to see; think I'm onto another set of wheels...

If you can id get the Gt engine rather than modding the spi.

A GT cam in a spi will make a difference yes, but you need the full works to get decent power.

Well yeah however if you haven't got a clue what your doing, your pissing in the wind.

Unless your gonna pay some to do it, Youve also got to think about insurance and stuff, its not as simple as bashing one in there.

If i was you , Id do what i did, get familiar with how the mk3 8v's work and tinker with it for abit with a cam and manny,

Then maybe move onto bike carbing or the GT inplant when you know what your doing.

Stuff wheels..

Haha.

Can't make my mind up; manifold will be the next stage or GT engine probably if a bother.

Service this weekend

New plugs, leads, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, oil. :-)

Could you do the GT swap do you think?

Could you do the GT swap do you think?

Yeah; not difficult I'm sure?

I've got a few mates who are clued up with engines an the lot.

One guy's put a Nissan silvia engine in a MK2 Escort.

And a ABF in a MK2 Golf.

Other's had about four engines in his Austin GT 1300 :)

EDIT: Worth getting new dizzy cap and rotor arm while I'm at this weekend?

Yeah mate swap as much stuff as you can, it all helps.

and as for the swap, id be willing to help you out since your only in donny.

Cheers dude

Manifold make all that much difference?

Urm coupled with a few other mods yes, But there pretty expensive mate.

Why not looking into getting a GT cam and flowed head?

I've thought about Gt cam but flowed head? Whats that?

lol phils 1L G40 had a epic headgasket failure.

GT all the way. Far better results than modding the 1.3 spi lump.

Flowed head wont do much unless its done correctly. instead of taking a dremel to the ports making them bigger - Shaping them for better airflow.

GT engine with 4 branch and a couple of other mods can break 90bhp. With the GT gearbox that feels pretty fast. Small mods on a small engine make a big difference.

As for not knowing what you are doing, i reckon swapping a cam is actually more difficult than swapping the entire engine and not messing with the internals of the engine?

And then you have a better base engine for further mods (a more aggressive cam, abd bottom end, etc etc)

Mpi makes quite a difference over spi too. Swapping all these small bits to the spi is bound to be harder than just swapping the entire engine. The way I'm looking at it it would be anyway haha.

Money aswell. Its cheaper to pick the entire conversion up than it is each bit separately.
