Audi V8 with VR6 gearbox going into a polo

He has taken out a 1.8T and says theres not much in it weight wise as the 4.2 is all alloy. For distribution the front bank is the issue as it is so far forward.

It may well drive like a POS but if you dont try you never know,ten out of ten for originality.

was the engine originally inline mounted in the car it came out of. (i've never seen a transversely mounted v8 tbh)

Transverse mounted V8?! IT will continually wreck engine mounts surely?

Surely he's going to have widening the track, you'll never get driveshafts to fit?

That bank of cylinders is going to be a pain in the arse so close to the bulkhead

indeed, also thinking more along the lines of manifolds needing fabricating and the bulkhead issues.

Looks like a monster ballache, and probably a complete waste of time........ but it is something different and refreshing to see. Cannot wait to see the finished product, whether it is a v8 mk4 polo or another thread that just fizzles away.

it is longitudinally mounted but waaaaay infront of the front wheels as per most audi's

its gonna be a tight squeeze in there.....

If it's an aluminium block it won't be as heavy as a VR6. It's still mad though.

what a ball ache to work on,no room what so ever, 1.8t's are bad enough, good effort mind but claiming it will end up very expensive

wow didnt think the front end would fit back on.be good to see this go. what sort of power does that engine have its going to be a nice person to work on anyways no room atal.
