I decided to try and make a set of Mk1 Polo bumpers in Carbon Fibre,

considering all the myths about the material and a long time taken

reading up on the processes, tests and smaller parts...well....here are the pics

I'm very pleased on how they've turned out (albeit no fingers/prints loads of swearing )

They still need "tweaking" and are not up to the standards of a professional shop,

but for a 1st time in a back yard workshop I'm chuffed

And! they look fantastic when the suns out

yes these are wet layed up from original moulds.

However I do have correct facilities to vacuum CF parts

but have only done this on a few smaller items.

I have a build thread on the MK1 forum,

CF stuff is nearer the end but you can see how it all started.

I'd love afew lil bits made up which should be easy enough (inner bootlid cover?) Pay you with lots of notes and beer.

do you have moulds made for these now?! would deffo be interested in a set if i get the mk1 am lookin at...

i'd love a CF centre console too but that maybe pushing my luck a little too far!

I'd like to compile a small list for starters, for parts from Mks 2/3/4 etc

to be made into CF. Trim panels, Slam panels, bits of dash etc

nothing too big (Mk2 bumpers I'd love to do, unless you want to spend £500 for a pair!)

All suggestions welcome please, items that you think would generate interest.

They look like a pretty decent job, and carbon defiantly isn't the easiest material to work with specially getting the weave straight. Top work

Quite cheap to do. Can be done by wrapping carbon fibre vinyl on an object and then lacquering over the top.
