life after the 20vt polo......

Featured Replies

haha cheers dude, thought bout charging the vr, but it woulda guzzled big time with the charger, and as its my daily it wasnt wise lol

the 20vt's gonna be remapped on emerald management to start with, then in the future i might put a bigger turbo on it with an equal lenght manifold..but we'll see. should see 280/290 bhp to start with, and i think thatll be moe than enough power lol

Blah petrol prices will fall eventually

Going to be fun fun fun with the 20v :-D

My polo 20vT (AUQ) was running emerald, awesome stuff, custom mapping FTW :-D

we can all hope that one day they will fall to around 80 pence a litre...haha, on my polo 20vT i was running factory management, so I've not experienced costum management yet :-) can wait to take the first drive in it :-D :-D

haha, i dunno tbh, i just wish id kept the polo as a 1.4 and 20vt'd a mk2. i prefered my polo as a 1.4, could run it looooooow and not worry about scrubbing etc etc, cheers for the comments

Looking good mate.

My dad is planning on putting 1.8t engine into his mk2, where did you find your BAM engine which such low mileage?

Lovely motor mate! It's been around for a while this..remember keeping up with original the build thread!

Also, good move with binning the Vr, though they sound awesome, the power gains on a 1.8T are much better!

heres a rolling shot to show how low it can be ran. ( this photo was not taken by me, was taken by a previous owner)

Thats a nice stance and a nice looking Mk2, but you must have spent a fair bit on the 6N2 to get the engine done. Seems a waste to let it go ????

tsr performance found the engine. its from one of the last mk1 tt's that were made, the car had been written off with a side swipe type impact. Tsr had it stored for a few months while i gathered the correct funds :-)

i made a loss on the polo, and still miss it, but life goes on, and you only live once, so i had to get the mk2 and 20vt it. its just what i wanna do lol

cheers mate. got a few plans to 'put my stamp' on it as they say. I'm not happy with the interiour, i.e. the mk4 recaros havnt been fitted as well as they couldve been, so once the conversions complete, which should be in the next few weeks, I'm going to start re-doing the interiour. just need to decide on what to go for lol. i gotta say i wasnt impressed with the vr at all, sounded good but after a few weeks of using it i just grew bored, and longed for the excitment of the 20vt again haha..... just gotta try not to get bored like i did with the polo...and ctually keep this one lol

I know what you mean about making a loss on cars....

I had the 1st UK Mk2 Golf 20vt done at Stealth Racing (although Awesome GTI beat me to having a working complete build for show at GTI Int)

I spent somewhere in the region of about £18k on it and sold her for about £7k. Thats quite a loss, I dont regret doing it as I enjoyed every minute I had the car and the little steps in progression along the way, but if I ever do something lke that to a car again, I think I will do the work myself and only spend the money with companys that I am just incapable to do myself !!

I plan on a Mk1 Golf 20TV track car at some point in the future, but as its not gonna be a daily driver, I can keep it off the road and do as much myself as poss. (Would like to Haldex it too but thats talking way in the future)

Once the Mk1 is running and reliable enough to use as a daily for a month or two, I wouldn't mind dropping a G60 in the Mk4 Polo

I have my life planned, i've already decided that my mid life crisis car is gonna be building a DAX Tojerio De Dion (AC Cobra Kit Car)

The Mrs has agreed to that too ;)

(somehow, I feel my mid life crisis coming on soon er than expected)

haha, its just the way it is with modded cars...youll never get the money back that you spent on it...but I'm not to bothered about it tbh... i love vws..and wouldnt have it any other way, i couldnt stand having a standard new car, not even as a daily, hence why the mk2 is now my daily lol. your plans sound mint buddy :thumbsup:

hey man loving the new ride btw!

i saw your your old polo at a nw london meet last week and had never been so excited!lol loved that car.

I'm looking to 1.8t my 6n2 at some point in the near future, would you recomend the conversion?? as i heard from thread the car was quite a hand full?lol

sorry for all the questions just really need some good advice before committing so much money to my little dub

keep up all the good work though buddy! :)

cheers dude, i put alot of work into that polo....and alot of money lol. i do recomendthe conversion, but it is a handfull, and is expensive due to the amount of custom work that needs doing. ideally if your running around 270bhp as i was in the polo, you really need a diff to be able to use the power properly, thats the problem i had in the polo...i just couldnt use the power in the lower gears, 4th and 5th were fine though. also due to the power through the front wheels it ate driveshafts, even though they were costom made, and to rectiy the problem id have had to get motorsport ones at 500 each

cheers for the comments anyway dude, ill keep this thread updated.

Golf looks superb ..

I dont think that many people really understand the complexity behind a 20vT conversion ona polo ..

A polo is not designed to take 200+Bhp so the engine is not just going to slot in and everything will run a dream .

Any high Bhp car is going to cost soo much to run service and fix when it brakes and it is a matter of when rather than iff ..

The MK2 Golf should handle the power alot better far better car than the polo would ever be ..

you speak alot of sense dude, ita a huge job getting the 20vt into a polo, never mind being able to use the power reliably. mounts, fmic, driveshafts, amongst other things have to be costom made. i had a few problems with it over time... i.e. snapped driveshafts, but i put all the minor problems down to the fact that it was so custom. the biggest problem being the lack of space to work on the engine once its in...there isnt any lol. But tbh...it was an awesome car... and the look on peoples face when they see a little polo keeping up with them was priceless lol

but i also agree that the mk2 should be alot better with the 20vt in it..... i cant wait to find out for myself :-D

cheers dude. tbh, the vr needed to go. who ever did the vr conversion originally did a really bad job. tsr said it was an accident waiting to happen as the wiring was so bad...and they were suprised it actually ran  . so a top quality conversion that was done properly was what it needed.

i nearly died when i saw it

so how much is tsr charging for a 20vt engine swap ?

  • Author

tsr charge around 5.5k

Thats a good price considering i know someone who spent about 1k less and they did it themselves. but they are using a rallye intercooler and radiator
